Cops see the suspect, recognized him, and indeed are lying in wait for him. They wait inside the Engineer's cab, and ignore the suspect pounding on the door they're behind. Meanwhile, a commuter gets stabbed by the perp and is the one who disarms him after being stabbed multiple times. The cops then go on TV and brag about how great they were, while the hero of the story is in the hospital. He survives only because a construction worker uses his breakfast napkins to staunch the bleeding while the cops brag on their radios.

I get cops needing to be somewhat cautious, but I also think that if cops are that afraid of risk in that type of situation, they are very much in the wrong job.

IT's almost as bad as the trigger happy pussified cops that open fire becasue the perp twitches or doesn't respond well to a game of simon says.

Hopefully the cops in that story lost all respect from their brothers, otherwise something is even more seriously wrong. I'm guessing they did.
