Once again the coal burning, climate change denying, national monument destroying, off shore drilling, endangered species killing, pipeline laying, insecticide approving,Trump demonstrates he is the worst President as to protecting the environment in my life time.

“President Trump has instructed Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to exempt Alaska’s 16.7 million-acre Tongass National Forest from logging restrictions imposed nearly 20 years ago,” the Washington Post reports.

“The move would affect more than half of the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest, opening it up to potential logging, energy and mining projects. It would undercut a sweeping Clinton administration policy known as the ‘roadless rule’ that has survived a decades-long legal assault.”

What's the solution? Unless we start offing a large chunk of the population or sterilizing the female or male population, we need resources. I don't like it, but you're getting upset about something that only has one or two solutions. All of which are not politically viable. You're not wrong, but the outrage doesn't and can't do anything to fix the problem.

Yep, interesting how noone ever gets it or talks about it in public. I guess China got it at one point?. The solution? Lots of problems get solved with about 4-5 billion people dying off.

I am not seeing any shortage of lumber, or energy or food in fact the world is awash in commodities right now. The US is in a unique position to conserve (you know conservative values) its natural resources rather than squander them for short term gain (see Brazil). This makes sense from many points of view, including national security. Trump is tipping or trying to tip the country toward an extractive economy. This is both short sighted and stupid. There is no demand from the public to cut down old growth forests, quite the contrary. The demand is from a small groups of special interests to which Trump bends over to accommodate, in other words the swamp.

You are right. Someone likely gained from this decision and was likely someone Trump knew. This is unfortunately how government works. EVERY government on the planet. Including a town of 1,000 people. And I'm not saying this is right, it's just what we do. Power and money corrupt everyone, no one is immune.

If there are less people, then less resources are needed and therefore government making decision like this happen less and not more. People are the problem regardless of who they affiliate with on politics. I guess the only positive in this case is that the forest can eventually grow back.
