Jerry Garcia died a terminal junkie in a rehab in Marin where he had been re-cycled umpteen times. He was also a diabetic who didn't pay proper attention to his condition.
Still, he lived to be 53, which I suppose is survival for the rock 'n roll breed. Why he is deified either for music or anything else I don't understand. He was OK'ish, but participating in the Grateful Dead wandering psychedelic show was probably necessary to 'get it'.

He had great tone and a great style. He was better with his Jerry Garcia Band than with the Grateful Dead. I'm glad he died before Trump came along. I would have hated for him to have crapped on his admiration and esteem I've held him and his abilities to over the years. I wish Roger Waters died 20 years ago as well. What a Royal Dick head he's turned out to be. I can't stand to hear a Pink Floyd song that he wrote and sang on.
