Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may not be much for making public appearances since undergoing surgery for lung cancer back in December, but the 86-year-old jurist still knows how to make a headline.

On Friday, while speaking at the Second Circuit Judicial Conference, Ginsburg praised Justice Brett Kavanaugh for making Supreme Court history by hiring only women law clerks, as he had promised to do.

“Justice Kavanaugh made history by bringing on board an all-female law clerk crew,” Ginsburg commented. “Thanks to his selections, the Court has this Term, for the first time ever, more women than men serving as law clerks.”

We’ll go out on a limb and assume that the women selected were the best available candidates, regardless of gender, as shutting men out of the process entirely doesn’t come across as the kind of progress desired for the fair-minded.

I saw a Slate article yesterday bitching about the fact that one of the clerks was the daughter of a woman who had publically advocated for Kavanaugh’s good reputation with women. Like it’s some kind of scandal or something.

Did not know that Kavanaugh is a raging sexist...if a leftie SCOTUS justice would have hired only womyn, Patnetters would be falling over each other expressing disgust.

I think there are two logical possibilities: 1. Hiring should have no preference based on race, gender, etc, and should be based only on qualifications; or 2. Private business should be able to hire anyone they want without being afraid of discrimination lawsuits.

Appears that Kavanaugh supports neither 1. nor 2., and thus is not much different from Ms. RGB.

I don't believe he is. I think going through the confirmation process had a huge impact on his mental state. Although he hired these women before he was confirmed, it didn't hurt his public image having them on his team to combat the false impression that he abuses women.

Christine Blasey Ford and the Dems tried to smear his name unfairly so they could prevent another conservative justice from being on the bench.

I agree with the rest of your statement. People should be judged on their qualifications and not on their race, sex or identity.

Did Tiger Mom pick out her daughter's wardrobe?
