"S" in SAT used to mean "standartized".

Before Idiocracy, that is.

The SAT will assign a new score that factors in where you live and the crime level in your neighborhood.

The nonprofit group that administers the SAT said Thursday it will assign a score to students who take the test to reflect their social and economic backgrounds.
...
Colleges will be able to see the number when considering applicants, but students themselves won't be told their scores.

Wtf, the SAT just became pointless. US education system just keeps lowering the bar for the sake of diversity.

Sooo, if you have a college degree, earn a decent income and live in a decent neighborhood make sure you disown your kids and have their names on a rental agreement on a shack in a shitholiest part of a shitholiest town or they will be given a secret "no-go" score on their SAT. And they won't even fucking know what did them in.

Maybe one could start a business for whites and Asians, setup temp address in the hood for them.

The Idiocracy will sell out for a hand out. Reduce them all to the same crawling, crab bucket rabble so the Royalty can live apart and elevated. RichFucks behind gates and walls don't need no fuckin' SAT's, and, anyway, SAT scores are just another commodity that can be purchased.

If they do this, I hope they publish two score - the real actual score, then the "diversity" score.

I liked it better with the gifted schools, where they would test the kids at the elementary school level and put the gifted kids into a separate gifted school where they could achieve without being accused of "acting White."

It's not necessarily for diversity. I think it's financial incentive. Makes it very easy to provide shittier education, for higher cost, while pretending to "help the poor". Government subsadizes education heavily, so get more dumbasses into shittier education, collect government dollars (loans, etc...) makes for wealthy instittutions.

Because this is so dumb, it's too obvious that there is a hidden financial agenda there. No one does dumb shit like that without benefiting from it some way.

You were doing this already just for the financial aid. (For the record, it's not really "financial aid" when the schools triple the tuition costs and then begrudgingly give you some discount. It's really just a system to shake down the consumers for the maximum amount of money. Any other industry that acted like this would nailed for racketeering.)

Also note that the SAT has been "dumbed down" SEVERAL TIMES.

In 1996, the test was "recalibrated" and 45 years of careful calibration were tossed. Here's a conversion chart http://www.greenes.com/html/convert.htm Example: a year 1995 score of 500 + 500 = 1000 (math+verbal) becomes 520 + 580 = 1100.

In 2006, the test was switched from 2 scores in the 200-800 range to 3 scores in that range. Everyone suddenly had a 50% bump, but just taking that 3rd score into account was a good approximation for the score difference. (i.e.: and old 500+500 score is about the same as 500+500+500 score). Sorry, I'm unable to find an official "conversion chart," but that's because (I think) the conversion was pretty much that the math mapped to the math and the old verbal mapped pretty well to the two verbal scores.

Then in 2017 we're back to 2 scores. But total score isn't just cut by 1/3. There is some grade inflation. For example, a 2016 score of 500+500+500 (1500 total) would make you think a new score of 500+500 (1000 total). But according to this:
https://blog.prepscholar.com/new-sat-conversion-chart-old-2400-to-new-1600 it converts to 530 (math) + 560 (verbal) for a total 1090.

We can put both conversions to together:
math + verbal = total (1995) --> math + verbal = total (1996) --> math + verbal = total (2017). Note that the 3rd set of results is compounded from the second set of results so that all 3 sets are comparable.

500 + 500 = 1000 (1995) --> 520 + 580 = 1100 (1996) --> 550 + 640 = 1190 (2017).
600 + 600 = 1200 (1995) --> 600 + 670 = 1270 (1996) --> 620 + 710 = 1330 (2017).
700 + 700 = 1400 (1995) --> 690 + 760 = 1450 (1996) --> 720 + 770 = 1490 (2017).

Here's a pretty good summary without the conversion.
