A few generations ago, before the technology boom transformed San Francisco and sent housing costs soaring, the city was alive with children and families. Today it has the lowest percentage of children of any of the largest 100 cities in America, according to census data, causing some here to raise an alarm.

“Everybody talks about children being our future,” said Norman Yee, a member of San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors. “If you have no children around, what’s our future?”

As an urban renaissance has swept through major American cities in recent decades, San Francisco’s population has risen to historical highs and a forest of skyscraping condominiums has replaced tumbledown warehouses and abandoned wharves. At the same time, the share of children in San Francisco fell to 13 percent, low even compared with another expensive city, New York, with 21 percent. In Chicago, 23 percent of the population is under 18 years old, which is also the overall average across the United States.

California, which has one of the world’s 10 largest economies, recently released data showing the lowest birthrate since the Great Depression.

Lots of gays and militant feminists, crazy house prices caused entirely by NIMBYs, open intravenous drug use and literally shit on the streets. Those are the reasons.

San Francisco sucks in people from the rest of the country, and then is a reproductive dead end.

Not a family-friendly City. Not at all. I don’t want my kids anywhere near it. We drove over the bridge last time through, and that’s as close as we wanted to get.

Who in there right mind would raise kids there. You would have to keep your kid within line of sight until they are old enough to fight off all the predators roaming around. Most liberal city is human dead end, and they don't even see it.

Liberals keep them in the basement in cages. Check again they are there!

Another reason for this: schools from middle school on are dangerous, and there's a "lottery" system to determine which school your kid goes to (it is unlikely to be your neighborhood school, and even if it is, that school will have disruptive students assigned to it from other neighborhoods.)

So once your kids are 11 or 12, you're faced with 3 options: 1) risk sending them into violent, disruptive public schools; 2) fork over gobs of money annually to send them to private school; 3) move to another town, often still in the bay area, where the local school system isn't playing demographic games with your child's future.

Weirdos, gays, homeless, and undesirables from all over the world flock to SF for acceptance of behavior that disagrees with family values.

If the kids haven't been shanked by 8, they haven't enjoyed the San Francisco experience.

That's true, and should include feminists.

The unifying factor is a rejection of normal family life.

SF is becoming a capital of biblical sin and inhumanity. Worst part is all the entitled liberals who convinced themselves that they are important and everyone owes them something.

I feel LA is going toward same fate. Why wouldn't it, similar people here, same politicians, same policies.

Remember, if you haven’t stepped in a steaming pile of human shit, you haven’t fully experienced SF.

Are you sure! generally Asian majority schools in south bay, run through passive violent aggression in the name of competition. No school management give a f. to anybody as per their union rules.
