NO or if they do their budget should be no larger than any other sports.

If the Founding Fathers had football, they wouldn't have needed to fuck slaves!

Sports is part of the entertainment, the billing should go more to the participants, audience. This split will reduce the "Tuition fees".

In some schools, sports is subsidized to the tune of 10% of student tuition. Just get rid of all sports and tuition drops substantially.

Only if it brings in money.

Yes.

Simple rules.

Divide student body in half.

Cancel classes.

Everyone stops by the liquor store on the way to the field.

Coin toss winner goes first. Coin toss loser gets the designated sniper.

Band get to pick the winner in case of complete wipe out of both teams.

that would make football a bit more interesting

Private universities should do what they want. Public universities should do what they are told by the voters. Let the states decide if they want to keep funding head and limb trauma, spinal cord injury and promote use of PED's

Just make the programs self-sustaining with subscriptions, donations, and ticket/media/merch sales.

The minor programs, like Wrestling or Rugby, can have a small limit.

Another YUGE problem is the bullshit Spa, Pools, etc. the Unis keep building.

A real gym is in the corner basement of the Geography Building, with an old Tape Player with an AC/DC Mixtape inside, with the Smith machine rusted as well as all the weights and have the benches broken and wobbly. And only one of the overhead florescent lights working, and the punching bag ripped in 3 places with the stuffing hanging out. That's a real gym, get better results at those.

Not at some Oversized Planet Fitness where they give out real Pizza Rolls and have 30 Hamster Wheel Machines. Every chubby chick goes down, eats 3 Pizza Rolls, walks 15 minutes on the treadmill and spends 30 minutes in the locker room showering, then complains they don't lose weight "Despite going to the gym all the time"

We definitely need the state legislatures to start controlling the core curriculum of these schools. We have liberal arts graduates who can't identify anything about Aristotle, Locke, or Descartes. Psychology grads with no clue about Carl Jung or Piaget. Who can't find the Civil War to within 50 years. But they can tell you about Derrida, Foucault, and Dworkin, and name the year of the Stonewall riot.

Of course private universities can do what is best for them as long as public resources are not involved.
But publicly funded universities reserve seats for special categories like Child of Alumni, (not sure Child of employee is included) category. Potentially one third (heard over radio) goes under this category which is unfair practice.

Most of their money still comes from government as guaranteed student loans (other than for few top private schools such as Harvard).

They can't do that, otherwise they would have done it. About 10 schools in US have financially self-sustaining sports programs.

There is no reason that teams can't be picked in the parking lot before the game by some kind of contest like a hard-on contest.

Not that there is anything wrong in principle with this, but it is difficult to see why sweaty men piling on top of each other (aka football) is so popular. Female beach volleyball unfortunately is not one of the college sports...
