The really ironic thing about this is that your DNA is useful only in turning over your own relatives to the police.
So if you donate your DNA and the police convict someone who is a match, they necessarily convict someone related to you.

Ironic true, but if anyone related to me has committed a rape or a murder, I want them identified and held accountable

Good way to clear out all your annoying relatives into custody. Just gather all their beer bottles, liquor bottles, syringes and pipes and send them in for a match.
