Using government-generated statistics, Suomen Perusta calculated that an average Iraqi migrant moving to Finland between the ages of 20 to 24 is expected to cost Finland €690,000 ($783,000). A Somali migrant of the same age was estimated to be even more expensive, burdening the Finnish state with €951,000 ($1.08 million). If child-related issues are included, the costs rise to €844,000 ($957,000) and €1,343,000 ($1.5 million) respectively. ...

The second-generation of migrants who have grown up in Finland were found to have a rate of social and economic exclusion and income support 6-8 times higher than native-born Finnish young adults, despite having received basic education in Finland. A total of 49 and 50 percent of 22-year-old Iraqi and Somali migrants were income support recipients, as opposed to only 11 percent of their Finnish peers, the report found.

Admittedly, the authors didn't account for all possible fiscal effects in their study. Had those "missing" items been recognised as well, they argued, the effects would have been even more negative, the study said. Some of these may include lower contribution for old age pensions, indirect integration costs, and higher health services costs due to factors such as translation needs.

From the Finnish public finance point of view, the authors concluded, no new migbrants should be welcomed to Finland when expected life-cycle effects are negative.

"The conclusion of the study is that from the standpoint of the public finances of Finland it is not beneficial to take any migrants born in Iraq or Somalia", the report said. "The same conclusion holds for whichever way the results are broken down: by age, by years of education, the age when the migrant arrives in Finland or their employment status.

Explain the Nigerian success story in America then. Why are Nigerian immigrants (black as can be) such success stories on a super high percentage, even topping the average for Asian immigrants? How about Jamaican and Haitian immigrants? Still doing great. But Somalis have a problem, not just in finland but in the USA as well. Are the Nigerians any less black? So we come back to culture being the problem. As it always is. Not race. Culture. Not all cultures are equal. Some produce wonders. Others produce misery.

Agreed. Historically, the US legal immigration model has been a smashing success because we select for people who believe in Western democracy, the values of the Enlightenment, and individual responsibility and entrepreneurship. And the newcomers keep raising the bar. Europe does not get this for some reason.

Many Nigerian immigrants educated themselves back in Nigeria, which has a British Style Education System, and most apply through the usual immigration channels.

Most Somalians are barbarian 4th Worlders who come through via pressure groups using refugee/asylee programs. If they have any education at all, it was from an Islamist Salafi/Wahabi Madrassah.

Many Nigerian immigrants educated themselves back in Nigeria, which has a British Style Education System, and most apply through the usual immigration channels.

The official language of Nigeria is English and, to some extent, Nigerians come through a merit-based immigration system. That's a great start right there and exactly what many (including Trump) propose for all immigrants.

This type of immigration will bankrupt Finland. At that point, quality of life with crash and immigration will stop, since Finland will be a worse place to live than wherever it is that immigrants are coming from. (At least people who stay in Somalia aren't freezing to death 6 months of the year.)

Which makes sense, because Finns produce what Finns consume, on average.

The Nigerian immigrants who do well in the US are almost entirely Igbo.

The Igbo are first of all Christians, so not about to murder anybody in the name of religion, and second of all, the overachievers of Africa. They are well known in Nigeria for their business skills and determination. They were massacred in large numbers by the Muslims during the Biafran War:

Finland is running a debt to GDP ratio of 61%. This cannot be caused by refugees alone so this means that Finns cost more than zero. The author does not say why or how native born Finns were set at zero but the interpretation given to these figures by the author and many of the readers would be that Finns use up exactly as much government resources as they pay in taxes over their lifetime. Bullshit. Finland runs a deficit which exceed the expenditures on refugees.
And since when is running a government a cost-benefit analysis? Should Finland, or any country, euthanize all handicapped because they are a net frain on society? This article is just racist xenophobia disguised as economic analysis.
