Indeed, it is at this point that we need to be reminded of some home truths. It is perfectly clear that this sort of violence and terrorism is perpetrated on a daily basis against Christians, Westerners and others by Muslim attackers all around the world. ...

But because such killings and attacks are so utterly common and routine, there is next to no media coverage of them, nor much outrage about them. Moroever, every time another Islamic jihad attack occurs, especially in the West, everyone seems to bend over backwards and claim this has nothing to do with Islam and we should not even speak about Islam. They say the Muslim religion should not be tarred and feathered because of the actions of these terrorists.

Invariably we are told that these killers were lone wolves, that they had no connection with others, and that they have nothing to do with any ideology or religion. Invariably we are also told that they were mentally ill. Invariably we are told that Western culture in some way was the cause of such attacks.

Yet even in these early stages, we can see how the leftist media will be operating: they will put this attack down to right wing views, to Christianity, to anti-immigration groups, to the conservative alternative media, and so on. It will be open season on anyone and anything even remotely resembling a conservative, a Christian, or those who have expressed legitimate concern about border policies, unchecked multiculturalism, stealth jihad and the like.

Already I have heard journalists at New Zealand press conferences asking, “Have we been paying too much attention to Muslim terrorism?” Incredible. Anywhere from 200 to 600 million people have been murdered in the past 1400 years in the name of Islam.

So now we get an evil fool doing this at some mosques, and we are now just supposed to forget all about the other terrorism, and pretend that Islam is a religion of peace? Yes non-Muslims can and do commit acts of horrible violence and terror, but not even bloodthirsty ideologies like godless communism came close to killing as many people in terms of sheer numbers.

Again, the media, most political leaders and most experts are already speaking of how Muslims are living in fear, and are talking as if they experience such fear every day. Um, they have NOT been the main victims of terrorism acts. They have been the main perpetrators. ...

All such killing and attempted killing must be fully and soundly condemned. But the actual historical record here is all one-way traffic. Most acts of terrorism conducted around the world are Islamic attacks. Since 9/11 alone there have been nearly 35,000 deadly Islamic terror attacks. These hard truths also need to be kept in mind as we mourn with our overseas neighbours.

I agree. And I think the only reason this even made news in US is because left wing media figured there is an angle to somehow blame Trump (although he's unrelated).

Reminds me of the bombings in New York city in the mid-1970's. They became so routine the stories would be buried on the fifth or sixth pages--virtually all disenchanted SLA type leftist groups if not them in particular because they got fire-bombed in 1976 or 1977. In many of them no one was hurt--I remember one in which a bomb went off in an upstairs restroom in a police department that caused some embarrassment on the part of someone using the facilities, but no fatality. The worst one was the bombing of Fraunces' Tavern, dating back to the 1700s, by Puerto Rican Nationals in 1975 which killed four and injured 50.

It sure does, and it's not the KKK. But the Gangs of Chicago, Birmingham, Baton Rouge...

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting?sort=asc&order=City%20Or%20County

Funny, the areas mentioned in these shootings don't have large populations of toothless White MAGA hat wearers or White Anime Kids.
6   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Mar 15, 10:00pm

Let's take the first mass shooting in Chicago this year. There have been 3 mass shootings so far, with 2 dead and 15 injured.

It happened on the 4400 Block of West Madison St., which is in "West Garfield Park".

Let's see the breakdown of residents. MAGA Hat wearers?

Nope, Whites, Hispanics and Asians combined are about 6% of the population. West Garfield is 93% Black. I think we can guess the Race of the perps and probably victims.

In fact, West Garfield Park has one of the smallest White populations in the entire City.

7   Goran_K   2019 Mar 15, 10:05pm

The majority of the story of gun violence in America is black men shooting other black men in the Democrat controlled inner cities. The FBI statistics show this every year, decades of information.

Leftist are just too dishonest (some too stupid) to realize or accept the truth.
8   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Mar 15, 10:06pm

Let's go to Birmingham, Alabama. Avenue "O" and Warrior Rd. Goddamn Rednecks must live there, eh?

Let's see what those nasty KKK Neo-Nazi Rednecks are up to...

Oh wait.

What Kenny G and terrorist attacks have in common. When even innocuous jazz can trigger us, truly outrageous evil becomes normalized

We published a story the other day about some academic research that showed people generally think better when they are calm. Now, you might say to yourself, “No shit, Sherlock.” Everybody already knows that most people don’t think rationally when they are upset or agitated.

The story described the impact that listening to music has on investment decisions. Turns out that the subjects made better decisions when they listened to calming music than they did if they listened to loud and aggressive music that would agitate them.

We had a problem, however. We knew everybody would just scroll past a headline that said: “Calm down.” When you are reading news on social media or online, the last thing you are looking for is calm. If you wanted that, you’d search for cat videos.

So we did what any media outlet would do: We put a clickbait headline on it that would trigger readers: “How listening to Kenny G could make you rich.”

The academic study didn’t mention Kenny G by name and gave no evidence that listening to Kenny G specifically will make you rich, but we knew that people have some very strong feelings about Kenny G’s music — mostly they hate his expertly performed treacle — and we hoped they would click on it. (We were wrong; the story got almost no traffic.)

Investors would benefit from being calm but, to get them to read about the benefits of being calm, MarketWatch had to get them riled up. As if that isn’t the most 2019 thing.

Problem for all of us

It’s a problem for the media, for political leaders, for all of us.

Just as there are times when the public absolutely needs to get upset in order to be moved to act (such as when white-supremacist terrorists become a global threat), there are also times when the public needs to be calm in order to think clearly about what’s the best course to take. We need both agitation and calm.

Unfortunately, the business model of the media requires that readers and viewers be in a constant state of agitation, which drives ratings and traffic. The way we consume news has changed. We are drawn to stories that upset us.

It was not always so: There was a time in living memory when some newspapers and TV networks could thrive without driving our customers insane with anger, hate and worry. After we told them the truth (as close as we could get on deadline) about the sad state of the world, we gave them the funnies, the crossword and the sports pages to make them feel good about themselves. Agitation and calm.

We were far from perfect, but at our best we trafficked in reporting the facts and writing rational analysis, not in trolling and cooking up spicy hot takes designed to raise the national blood pressure.

The media (including the social media) have become laughably easy to game: Just say or do something outrageous and let the public take it from there. Surely this is one reason, among many, why people today are so quick to judge others and assume the worst. We’re desensitized.

Trolling is the point

Our president knows this as well as anyone. Trolling us is his business model as well. He knows that if everything (even his terrible grammar) is outrageous, then nothing is.

Outrage fatigue sets in.

Trolling is also the business model of terrorists. Their purpose is to keep us filled with blind rage, and they do that by triggering us with online “manifestos” and live-streaming their despicable crimes. The deaths of 49 humans is almost beside the point.

I’m not blaming the media for the sorry state of the world; I just don’t think it’s helping. We need both agitation and calm, but we only get one. I’m not asking for kumbaya 24/7; I’m asking for some balance.

I work in a newsroom, where the conversations about how to cover the news have shifted over the years from “What do our readers need?” to “What’s our angle?”

And if that doesn’t outrage you, I don’t know what will.

Pre-internet, and people would voice their opinions by writing a letter to the newspaper editor, and the editor would post their opinions. Obviously that means the editor chose which ones to post. And also, not everyone could easily get the newspaper and read it.

Now the internet has made the "letter to the editor" easier to write, and easier for anyone in the world with access to the internet to read.

Back in the 1990's I remember when almost everyone was hailing the internet as a way to promote the common working man and to promote freedom. They viewed it as a way for people to have a louder voice and not have their "letters to the editor" placed into the trash.

Left conveniently ignored 20th century. Inconvenient Truth to them.

Stalin, Mao, etc... they murdered far more people than rest of world combined over lifetime. But left focused on one loser who went off the rails instead.

Please quote this for him, he can’t see my posts, I’m on ignore.

In reality Islamophobia being used for mass migration, chain migration from Islam driven over populated areas. They in turn become economic burden to destination countries as they do not match skills needed for modern countries. Since they do not mix culturally, that leads to never ending conflicts, social unrest, no respect on laws until all are converted to Islam. They use religion and god as soft weapons and team up across the country boarders to extract power, benefits etc from the hard working people at destination country. Study all Islamic countries briefly, to get an idea where is your slow train wreck country in it path if it becomes one.

Well usually by now, there's a front page News Paper everywhere that that list every victim and has a picture of each one.
We haven't even as much as seen the wounded in interviews from their hospital beds. I think they are still working with Central casting for the bit parts.

Of course the next thing is what is the retaliation going to be? It will easily match or exceed what was done to them. Probably a large, fully occupied public building, church, theater, synagogue especially, will be destroyed.

The reality is that retaliation is a daily activity for them. They don't need a reason.

List of Killings in the Name of Islam:
Last 30 Days

During this time period, there were 106 Islamic attacks in 21 countries, in which 707 people were killed and 745 injured.

You have to be pretty warped or weak-minded to engage in terrorist acts based on being impacted by trolling or social media.

Maybe social media is the last thing to push someone over the edge. But that someone was already close to falling over the edge without social media's assistance.

Exactly I like how the media never takes credit for the depressed, ill-tempered the defeatists and the terminally hopelessness so many people feel on a day to day basis.
If only there was some TV they could watch or movies they could see to take their mind off the day to day doom and gloom the news seeks out to report.

They are all so quick to blame one person in an Internet forum for holding so much power over the whole worlds mental health. Meanwhile the TV makes everyone feel worthless every day. Think the teachers are any help? They busy blaming the Boomers and Making their students mad at the Jews.
