Today Global Knowledge published the 15 top-paying IT certifications in 2019 based on the results of their 2019 IT Skills & Salary Report research. Global Knowledge will be publishing the full report later this year, and a link will be provided here when the report goes live. The study’s goals center on cybersecurity, cloud computing, enterprise IT, networking and clarifying what skills professionals need to earn higher salaries and excel in their careers.

The 2019 survey’s findings regarding the most lucrative IT certifications are summarized in the article, 15 Top-Paying IT Certifications for 2019. The study is global in scope, with the top 15 certifications reflecting U.S. market demand and salary levels. A certification had to have at least 100 survey responses to ensure that the data was statistically valid, and the certification exam has to be currently available.

•Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect is the highest paying certification of 2019, paying an average salary of $139,529.

•Certifications in virtualization and cloud computing pay an average salary of $127,494 this year, up from $112,955 in 2018, a 12.8% increase in just one year.

•Five of the top 15 highest paying certifications of 2019 are for cybersecurity expertise, and they pay an average of $115,867.

•Project Management Professional (PMP®) certifications increased in value by 18.6%, jumping from a median salary of $114,473 in 2018 to $135,798 in 2019.

The study is global in scope, with the top 15 certifications reflecting U.S. market demand and salary levels. A certification had to have at least 100 survey responses to ensure that the data was statistically valid, and the certification exam has to be currently available.

Key insights on the 15 top paying IT certifications in 2019 include the following:

•Average salary across all 15 certifications is $121,514 for 2019. Virtualization and cloud computing certifications pay an average salary of $127,494 in 2019, soaring over the median salary of $112,955 in 2018. The five cybersecurity certifications pay an average salary of $115,867. Network certifications pay an average salary of $111,555. Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate and AWS Certified Developer – Associate all have salaries above the median of $121,514.

•Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Server Infrastructure certification pays an average salary of $121,288, up from $100,656 in 2018. Reflecting continued demand by large-scale enterprise IT departments globally, an MCSE certification in server Infrastructure pays 20% more in 2019 compared to last year. Technical professionals with this certification, which was retired by Microsoft in March 2017 will continue to see the market value of their experience increase. Microsoft replaced the MCSE – Server Infrastructure with the MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure certification. The new certification covers the roles of cloud administrator, cloud architect, computer support specialist, and information security analyst.

•The two highest-paying AWS certifications in 2019 have an average salary of $131,605, $6K higher than $125,591 which is the average of the five highest-paying AWS certifications of 2018. AWS excels at developing, launching and gaining adoption of a proliferating product and service roadmap, by far the most aggressive in cloud computing. Their rapidly expanding product and services base drives higher demand for AWS certifications. Even with just two AWS certifications being considered the highest paying this year, their aggregate value jumped by $6K. AWS is now the primary computing platform in hundreds of enterprises and is spreading to mid-market businesses, further driving demand for certifications as companies look to build more cloud apps internally. Please see the Global Knowledge post, What It Takes To Earn a Top-Paying AWS Certification for additional details.

The following table provides a breakout of the top 15 IT certifications in 2019 according to Global Knowledge’s latest survey.

Lol. Bogus list and salaries. Network + making more than CCNP?
2   anonymous   2019 Feb 12, 9:24am

A $186 difference between Network+ and CCNP equates to a bogus list and salaries ?

How does this list compare to your list of 100+ plus companies surveyed ?

Here is a link to the Globa Knowledge report: https://www.globalknowledge.com/us-en/resources/resource-library/articles/top-paying-certifications/

Each year, our annual list of top-paying IT certifications reflects shifting philosophies and tech trends greatly impacting IT departments around the United States.

Based on survey responses from the Global Knowledge 2019 IT Skills and Salary Report (to be released later this year), this year’s highest-paying certifications reveal a strong emphasis on particular topics, such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking and project management. In fact, cloud and project management dominate the top five spots.

Also, we have a new certification making its debut at No. 1. Talk about making an entrance!

To qualify for this year’s list, a certification must have at least 100 survey responses to be considered statistically valid.

What/where is a good/reputable institution for procuring one of these fine IT certifications?

This is a serious question.

There is a training tab on the Global Knowledge website for a start - not a programmer by profession but someone on here should have some input.

Have you tried doing a search for "IT training courses certification" or similar?

Do you want online or in person ?

Check your state Office of Information Technology. Here is a link to the California site: https://www.csustan.edu/oit

Many local colleges should also offer something

Will your employer help foot the bill ? They may have a preferred provider

Yeah. Absolutely.

Network+ is an entry level cert desktop jockeys with no experience making $30k a year get. With a Net+, they might get $40-50k depending on experience.

CCNP is a high level Cisco cert where jobs usually entail global routing/switching type work. Many of those guys make $90-120k.

So yes. I call bullshit.

Global knowledge is also a training partner with most of those vendors, and known brain dumping center. If anyone wastes money with them, they are an idiot.

The n+/s+ are laughable maybe they are on there because they are entry level and most likely anyone that has those has other certs. CCNP I would think to be higher.

Time to get my 12yo n+ cert so he can start making money.

Salary for Certification: CompTIA Network+:

Me too unless you have a something to match the Global Knowledge Survey. Obviously the 100 some companies surveyed have a different way of paying people.

Even though the difference between the two is greater than the Global Knowledge Survery - perhaps finding out why the entry level nerds got paid so much to bring that salary to that level would be beneficial.

Based on other material on the Global Knowledge web site kind of suspect those are "global" salary averages since their 2018 IT Skills and Salary Report The Global Knowledge IT Skills and Salary Report continues to provide the most informative and revealing insights of the inner workings of worldwide IT departments.

This year’s report is comprised of surveyed data from 16,200 respondents from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Report Highlights:
•Highest-paying certifications.
•IT salaries by functional area.
•Average salary by certification category and region.
•Individual benefits of certifications.
•New and emerging certifications.

The report can be downloaded for free at: https://go.globalknowledge.com/l/511241/2018-06-12/cl6tty

And your recommendations for getting training to answer WineHorror1's question as to What/where is a good/reputable institution for procuring one of these fine IT certifications?

I do. It's called experience in the industry.

Hell, my estimates were pretty much in line with the payscale info you posted.

Easy. Self study (like CBT Nuggets), or college curriculum. Many community colleges host the Cisco Academy curriculum which is solid. Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz has the CCNP level curriculum as well. Find a cert you like, and find a college that teaches it.

Unitek, Global Knowledge, CED Solutions (all those bootcamp training centers) are simply paper mills.

Thank you for the answer concerning where to get the certs - the state websites for Office of Information Technology seem to be great resources for a lot of things including training.

Looked around at a dozen or so different states yesterday - most had links etc. to local 2-4 year colleges etc.
