Though Nirvana was the 'flash' point for that entire alternative/grunge 90s thing, I've always thought that they never had staying power unlike let's say Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica (yes, I know, not really alternative but still, highly influential), Soundgarden, etc.
