"A library in West Virginia says it has no intentions of carrying a copy of veteran journalist Bob Woodward’s new tell-all book about the Trump administration.
The Washington Post reported Friday that the Morgan County Public Library in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., does not plan to place Woodward’s book, “Fear: Trump in the White House,” on its shelves."

The right continues it's drive toward censorship and limiting free speech.

The 'deep throat' unannotated source canard only works so many times.
2   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Sep 16, 12:39pm

"One Small library in West Virginia won't buy Woodward's book. This is the equivalent of Google rigging search engines, and Big Tech banning Infowars from every major platform."

Seriously:

The Post noted that the decision has sparked controversy in the city, one that has a reported population of about 600 people. According to the Post, the city voted 75 percent for President Trump in the 2016 election.

600 residents, probably 400 of which are voters, 100 of which voted against Trump, maybe half of which go to the library, 50... of those maybe 20% are militant Trump Haters bothered enough to maybe borrow a book on Trump - 10 potential readers.

LOL. False Equivalency of the month!

Google is a private enterprise and can do as it pleases. Libraries are government-funded and government run institutions.

Government-sanctioned censorship is FAR MORE INSIDIOUS.

So Google buys links from Breitbart? And if Google or Facebook don't buy Breitbart-linking posts, they're not available?

You're joking right?

You're literally comparing a single 600-population library not buying ONE Trump subject book with Search engine rigging? Libraries aren't doing to great these days, in case you haven't noticed.

Ridiculous Comparison.
4   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Sep 16, 1:04pm

This struggling low-budget tiny town library with a population of a few hundred, not buying the latest Woodward book is the equivalent of 80-90% of searches happening on Google.com across the entire United States and Around the World, involving billions of people.

If you can't see this, you need to get better informed.

If you guys are going to use somebody shoving someone at a protest as an indication of how out of control violent the left is, than this is a more than legit example of censorship.

I'm fine with woodwards fiction book everywhere as long as Alex Jones et al can be found on all platforms as well.

I don't say that. I say it involved multiple people and is in fact the subject of a lawsuit, in San Jose alone.

Maybe Woodward's Publisher can donate it to this small town library, just like Infowars donated free links and free video to Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter. ;)

No, it's 1 million times worse.

In one case, it's a private company deciding how to run their business. In the other case its the GOVERNMENT deciding which books it allows people to have access to.
11   Ceffer   2018 Sep 16, 2:00pm

Woodward said he wrote the Trump yellow journal as a warmup to a career change writing bodice rippers. Libraries buy lots of bodice rippers, so he was crushed by the news.

Yes! If a tiny village Library doesn't buy every Anti-Trump publication when it comes out, FREEDOM HAS NO MEANING.

When the Library fails to purchase the rights to screen the new Michael Moore film in the AV Lounge, it will be proof positive that this small county library is RIGGING the Elections for TRUMPTARDS.

Whereas banning free links and video by content providers from every major Big Tech Outlet for opaque reasons is PURE FREEDOM.

A public library not buying one of the fastest selling books of all time does seem a bit odd, doesn't it?

So, if the grocery store doesn't stock Bartlett pears, is it "banning" them? Because I don't think you know what the word ban means....

I wonder how many rural libraries they had to call before they fixed up this story, just like Erdeley had to go to multiple 5-figure population universities before she found one frat rape story, that turned out to be a lie.

If a tiny rural village library doesn't buy every NYT Bestseller within weeks of publication, it's government CENSORSHIP!

LOL You think it's okay to remove the #2 Political site behind CNN from Youtube because of a video that's been up for years and years already.
16   HeadSet   2018 Sep 17, 7:53pm

Berkeley Springs is a pretty little town on the way from Winchester to PA. I usually stop there whenever I drive to see relatives in Pittsburgh. If you pass through, stop at the Dairy Queen. Better food than you might expect and always staffed by pleasant young women. If you want a very scenic drive, take Route 9 through the mountain passes.
17   Tenpoundbass   2018 Sep 17, 7:53pm

Bob Woodward has no right to peddle his filthy lies where it's not welcomed

Dishonesty? Like comparing Google's massive worldwide reach to that of some small hick library in fucking West Virginia?

Seriously? This is all you got? Just laughable this is the example the Progs cite for Trump Cultists "censorship".

BTW - Google censors the shit out of their search engine to operate in China. Yet we don't hear a peep from the Progs over that. Yeah yeah yeah - they are a private company and all that. But their motto is "don't be evil" and the leaked tape after the 2016 election shows their Corporate leadership are chock-full of SJW Progs.
21   LeonDurham   2018 Sep 18, 11:50am

Google is a private company.

A library is a government run public institution.

Hopefully you recognize the difference there.

btw--

Did I miss all the fake outrage when the Home Depot founder spouted off about Obama?

A rural library is not the Library of Congress, with a copy of every book published. It's also run locally by the public who funds it with limited tax dollars.

Whereas posting links to infowars is free and Google is nationwide and considers itself a Platform, but acts like a Publisher.

Hopefully you recognize the difference.

Well a library refusing a free bestseller seems a LOT like censorship to me.

Hmm, not to me. Sounds like a tiny rural library has limited shelf space and a limited budget. No reason to buy a book that maybe half a dozen people will use.

Well "free" means the budget doesn't matter.

And, there is no shelf space for the best selling book in a decade?

You mean if they don't buy it a few weeks after it comes out, it's censorship?

Look what a deal people got if they waited a few months to buy "What Happened?"

Fiction titles sell well these days, but better to wait for discounts and/or the softcover.

Smart Librarians.

No, I mean if they refuse a free copy of the #1 bestseller, that sure seems like censorship.
32   Ceffer   2018 Sep 18, 4:20pm

it doesn't matter whether the library bought it or not, a libby would just have stolen it.

Only if they had total lack of shelf space and weren't buying any books.

Like I said, I wonder how many libraries the Journalists called before the found one that didn't buy Woodward.

I wonder how long before the book hits the discount bin at 50% off?

By Thanksgiving at the latest?

Why are you being purposely dishonest again? You've been told multiple times that the book was offered for FREE. Why do you persist in claiming the library didn't buy it??

Why do Trump supporters continually lie?
