Every point in that article would apply to Mexico. Maybe we should should be pushing for all those Central American migrants to immigrate to Mexico. That way Mexico can have the benefits of filling up their "free space" and the "dynamism" that immigration provides. After all, we are more prosperous than Mexico and should not deprive Mexico of the immigration advantages.
Full employment Deport all illegals Purge the welfare and disability roles. Ensure that there is a self reporting system where persons on visas MUST notify of the address they are staying at, or if vacationing what their lodging will be. If stopped by police in an area where they have not reported, or if overstaying their visa, arrest and detain immediately and schedule for deportation. . Initiate a guest worker program with Mexico.
After all, we are more prosperous than Mexico and should not deprive Mexico of the immigration advantages.
Lol!
I'm not opposed to a reasonable amount of immigration by the way. I just think it should be legal immigration of relatively skilled workers, so that employers cannot undercut the wages of impoverished US citizens by hiring illegals.
People forget the 50s and 60s boom was huge demand and weak supply.
And in the 10s and 20s, when we last had sky high immigration, there was a factory opening every other day. Nearly double digit GDP growth annually. Not 2-3%
You'll never get the American Dream back if you bring more immigrants than openings. Since the vast, vast, majority of domestic jobs are domestic service, you can't export your way out of it either. Only not allowing supply to wayyyy outstrip demand is going to get wages back to the 50s and 60s, a high growth, period.
In fact, it was the greatest expansion of wealth for the ordinary person in World History. It works.
