#truth

Why was Carlin so good? Because he told it like it was. Rant from another truth teller.

"That’s it! I’ve had it with the stupid Gnosticism I hear everywhere, but especially on National Proletarian Radio.

Gnosticism is the ancient Christian heresy that locates evil in things, not people. Get it straight once and for all: evil lives not in guns, wine, beer, drugs, automobiles, or money. Evil lives not in things: evil lives in men’s hearts. Lock away every gun in the world in Stalin’s closet, and people will only figure out how to bludgeon each other to death with chair legs. Removing things doesn’t help, only removing evil from the hearts of men.

And while I’m at it, stop kidding yourself. The ONLY reason you don’t live under jack-booted totalitarianism this very instant is that somewhere out there in America are 400 million guns, and the government doesn’t know where. Fear of an armed citizenry restrains them. Lose the guns, lose the restraint—that explains the gun control fervor.

One last thing: Let’s save due process and the presumption of innocence, at least in ourselves if not in the nation. I don’t know whether social media or some other propagandists have created guilt by accusation, but it won’t wash. Merely accusing somebody of wrongdoing doesn’t prove wrongdoing.

Name calling—sexist, racist, homophobe, bourgeois—proves nothing, nor can it since those concepts are all made-up rubber noses that can be twisted and kneaded to fit whoever the name-caller has targeted as the enemy. And mercy! Aren’t y’all tired of the hysterical, gossipy campaigns on Zwitter and Splitter and Spacehead and all the other infantile social media sites? They get each other all stirred up and come pouring out of their nest like fire ants, full of self-righteous venom. Pack it in, Jack & Jill—fix yourself first before you fix the world.
"

A mixture of a few truths with a lot of stupid stuff. Why is Carlin's picture under this quote?

Carlin did not care much for guns either way, I think - see quote below - way how I read it, is that he did not consider this to be a very important topic.

PLAYBOY: Earlier, you referred to the U.S. Constitution as "inspiring." Do you endorse all of it - even the right to bear arms?

CARLIN: I have mixed feelings about that. I plan to get a gun if crime gets any worse. I believe my first duty is to survive. And I'm not just talking about criminals coming into my home. I once seriously considered getting a gun to protect myself from the police. If I need a weapon to continue living, I'll get one. And I'll use it.

PLAYBOY: But if violence in our society --

CARLIN: Look, I'm going to interrupt you: There are two ways to think about this existence we have. One of them is that it's Wednesday and it's three fifteen and we're talking here in my home, and at four o'clock I have to leave for another meeting. Now, that's a reality. But there's another reality. We're in the solar system of a second-rate star, three quarters of the way out on a spiral arm of an average galaxy in a thing called the Local Group. And ours is only one of billions of galaxies, each of which has billions of stars. Some star systems are binary, and there could be a planet that revolves around a center of gravity between two binary stars. So you'd have two sunrises and two sunsets every day. One could be a red giant, the other a white dwarf; two different-sized, -shaped, and -colored suns in the sky. And there might be other planets and comets. In other words, fuck Wednesday, fuck three fifteen, fuck four o'clock, fuck the United States, fuck the earth. It's all temporal bullshit. I like thinking about being out there and not thinking about the corporate structure, not worrying about freedom, and not worrying about guns. I chose a life of ideas. That entertains me. That nourishes me. And that's why I run from this conversation.

I think you mis-interpreted what he meant there. Carlin is saying what's the fuckin point of talking on the level of survival all the time. There's so much more to the world, we should be out living, not obsessing on just getting by. But in a survival situation, he would definitely advocate for the best form of defense, a gun.

Is that quote from Carlin or Sanders?

Exactly, that's why I included Carlin in this thread. The style of the rant is similar from it's tell-it-like-it-is perspective.

I say it's not Carlin at the start, and list Sanders name under the quote, soo, Sanders.

Style may be similar but content is very different. Putting Carlin's picture under the quote is misleading.

I have seen enough of Carlin to know that he wouldn't say some of the nonsense in this rant.

Maybe for those who don't read the content of the post, but from title to final letter, intent is pretty clear.

Franklin Sanders is one more loose cannon running around the U.S. that fits right in with Rush, Alex Jones and the rest.

Try going past the surface knowledge that's led to your rash conclusion, you'll be surprised. Rush and Alex are bit players, gaming the system via made up personas for personal profit. Sanders makes a living running a real business, and doing real work.

Spent hours researching this guy the other weekend - I stand with my position.

What did you read/watch/listen to?

Where is the stupid stuff?

Example?

Sigh - not going back and formulate a list of everything I perused for someone else's amusement. If I tell someone I researched something, it actually happened, didn't stop at the headlines either.

I asked to see if I could offer some pieces you might not have been aware, as obviously, I'm a big fan. You've given a lot of generalities, a lot of opinion, but zero specifics. Seems like you want to leave it at that, fine. But if you decide you want to be more open minded, I'd love to share some of the reasons I'm a Sanders fan.
