http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/02/19/missing-fathers-and-americas-broken-boys-vast-majority-mass-shooters-come-from-broken-homes.html

“The subject of “The Desperate Cry of America’s Boys” is a difficult one. To point out that boys need their fathers is to shine a spotlight on divorce and single mothers; and that is, admittedly, uncomfortable. But there’s no way to address fatherlessness comfortably.

The fact is, divorce and family breakdown—which, to answer my emailer’s question, is the root of fatherlessness—is catastrophic for children. There’s more than one reason why, but an obvious one is that in the majority of cases, divorce separates children from their fathers.

This is destructive to both boys and girls, but each sex suffers differently. Girls who grow up deprived of their father are more likely to become depressed, more likely to self-harm, and more likely to be promiscuous. But they still have their mothers, with whom they clearly identify. Boys do not have a comparable identification and thus suffer more from father absence. They also tend to act out in a manner that’s harmful to others, which girls typically do not.

The root of fatherlessness rests in two things: our culture’s dismissal of men as valuable human beings who have something unique to offer; and its dismissal of marriage as an institution that’s crucial to the health and well-being of children.”

Great article.

I can agree with it. Looking at all the friends my own kids associate with, in just about every case, the guys who came from broken families were usually the ones that had issues in different areas. In the majority of other cases, the friends who came from solid family based units, where both parents were involved, were the most stable.

These boys were wandering around, like an accident searching for a collision.

Anyone informed the authorities of this startling revelation ?

Should be simple now, round up all the young adolescent males who come from a home where the parents are divorced and the problem goes away.

Anyone realize most of these young troubled males also went to public schools ?

Simple solution to problem two. Close the public schools and institute charter schools nationwide and the problem is gone for good never to return.

Combine the two and wizards at Fox news have solved one of the nation's most enduring problems. Wonder what they can do with the Opioid crisis.

Maybe looking into the mindset of someone might help....

He also notes that most perpetrators are young males who act alone after carefully planning the event. They often have a longstanding fascination with weapons and have collected large stores of them. The shootings usually occur in a public place and during the daytime.

Individual case studies involving psychological autopsy and a careful analysis of the often copious communications left behind suggest common psychological themes.

The mass murderer is an injustice collector who spends a great deal of time feeling resentful about real or imagined rejections and ruminating on past humiliations.

He has a paranoid worldview with chronic feelings of social persecution, envy, and grudge-holding. He is tormented by beliefs that privileged others are enjoying life’s all-you-can-eat buffet, while he must peer through the window, an outside loner always looking in.

Aggrieved and entitled, he longs for power and revenge to obliterate what he cannot have. Since satisfaction is unobtainable lawfully and realistically, the mass murderer is reduced to violent fantasy and pseudo-power.

He creates and enacts an odious screenplay of grandiose and public retribution. Like the child who upends the checkerboard when he does not like the way the game is going, he seeks to destroy others for apparent failures to recognize and meet his needs.

Fury, deep despair, and callous selfishness eventually crystalize into fantasies of violent revenge on a scale that will draw attention.

The mass murderer typically expects to die and frequently does in what amounts to a mass homicide-personal suicide. He may kill himself or script matters so that he will be killed by the police.

The frequency of mental disorders in mass murderers is controversial because it is not clear where to draw the line between "bad" and "mad."

The paranoia exists on a spectrum of severity. Some clearly do not meet criteria for any mental disorder and often may justify their acts on political or religious grounds. Others have the frank psychotic delusions of schizophrenia. Many perpetrators are in the middle, gray zone where psychiatrists will disagree about the relative contributions of moral failure versus mental affliction.

why can't we forcibly hospitalize those who are clearly broadcasting major problems? What law do we need to pass or repeal?

"In 2016, when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were getting divorced, Jolie actually said it never crossed her that mind her son “Mad” would need a father."

All she had to do was ask Murphy Brown.

"In many instances, women are divorcing perfectly good husbands in their search for what they believe will be a better match—which is a natural outgrowth of no-fault divorce"

As 2020 approaches, it will be interesting to see how the number of observances of 50 year anniversaries of marriages consummated in 1970 compares with those of 1960 or 1955. I expect there will be many 60 and even 65 year celebrations of those lucky enough to still be alive in their late 80's and early 90's, but many fewer 50th anniversaries of those a decade younger from the year no-fault divorce was founded in addition to the counter cultural practice of shacking up instead of marriage took root in our society. Divorce exploded in the 1970's and the rest is history.

In some states even a non-family member can get someone committed for 24-48 hours either because they are considered or displaying behaviors that can be considered a threat to themselves or others.

Where do you draw the line on what constitutes a major problem, who gets to make up the rules and how many loopholes will be available for the well connected.

Ask Ronald Reagan or one of his supporters. Mental hospitals closed under his watch. Also that's when costs to take care of health started to explode. People in California can be held for 3 days or 2 weeks if they get 5150ed or 5250ed

You can thank JFK for this turn of events when he signed his last piece of legislation on 10/31/63, the Community Mental Health Act. It was an effort to do penance for the lobotomy his father had performed on his mentally ill next younger sister Rosemary in 1941 and was the greatest shame to the Kennedy family according to Kate Larson, author of Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter. It took the running of mental hospitals out of the hands of the states and turned it over to the federal government and we know how that always works out. It's ironic the word "Community" is in the name because community control has nothing to do with it. There were "snake pits" and "bedlams" for sure under the previous regime, but where were severely mentally ill people going to be better off, inside or outside of an asylum, a place of protection by definition? There were supposed to be community centers for the mentally ill to reside in and receive treatment and medication, but that never happened except for a few poorly run halfway houses. The courts did their part in the 70's by ruling that a person can't be admitted for observation against their will. Over the next 50 years our cities filled up with the mentally ill homeless and today the police are by default their first encounter with authority. It's estimated that today over 10% of jail populations are mentally ill when it was around 1% 50 years ago. The other ingredient that makes it even worse is the drug culture which came along in the late 60's and only exacerbates mental illness. Like the police have said over and over, they didn't sign up to be mental health experts, but apparently the desires of the larger public has placed that responsibility on them whether they wanted it or were prepared for it or not, for better or worse.

I think 39 visits by LEOs, multiple violent threats reported by multiple people, reports by total strangers promising school shootings on social media posts to the FBI, expulsion from public school for breaking windows and multiple violent freak outs, and bragging about torturing animals is more than enough for a LEO or School Admin to start the process.

The problem with the family members only is that they are biased to write off behaviors and dismiss multiple, severe behaviors as no big deal.

This Kid was signalling like the Great Lighthouse of Alexandria and 880 WCBS after 9PM and yet no controls were activated.

One of the reasons he was able to get a gun was that no public record mental health intervention was triggered, so there was nothing a background check would have found.

Snowden was right.

He said that the surveillance state will never catch anything because it casts far too wide a net. I’d hate to say we told you so, but we definitely fucking told you so

Shit, the kid even made a school shooting threat under the usename "nikolas cruz" and the fuckup bureaucrat institution said they "Couldn't identify the poster based on the information". If only he posted his name AND social security number.

Something's wrong here. WaPo conducted a poll yesterday and published results that go against the Liberal narrative that's it's the gun's fault for these shootings. How could they do that. Should we take their Dem party membership card away?

Respondents to the poll feel mental illness plays a bigger part of the issue. Imagine that!

Just watched a heartbreaking episode on Evil Lives here on the Investigation Discovery channel. Soap star Thom Bierdz's younger brother Troy began exhibiting dangerous signs of psychopathy from a very young age--torturing and killing young animals, smashing his older brother's toys, resistance to any kind of discipline. His mother couldn't handle him anymore so he went as a teenager to California to live with his brother for awhile until his behavior got out of control. He was locked out of the house so he went back home to Wisconsin where he continued to spiral down but his mother was helpless against him. He finally killed her with ball bat and is now spending life in prison.

Yes, take away those evil "assault" AR-15's from 4,999,998 law abiding citizens (since there are 5,000,000 in the country) because 2 wackos decided to use them to kill a group of people in a year.

It's not just that, but the initial opinion piece came pretty close. These days kids grow up with the built-in assumption that every wrong will be righted. Any detected case of "bullying" - which is pretty often just kids being kids making fun of other kids without filters - immediately prompts a mandatory mea culpa plus full TV circuit with Dr. Phil if not lawsuits in some cases. Now, once the kids grow to become adults and interact with other near adults there are no "regulators" anymore and they suddenly may be on the receiving end of assholishness without somebody forcing the perpetrator to "rectify" their actions. Yes, in a free speech country you have the right to be an asshole and yes, life is not fair and never will be and more often than not you need to make lemonade out of lemons. That's a small price to pay to live free from Tyranny. Now these kids have never been told by anybody that life sucks sometimes and that you have to suck it up, that's part of being a man moreso than a woman. Fuck, there are people who have accidents or get sick and all your "injustice" is somebody made fun of you and now you need to get even with an AR-15 because no father figure in your life ever told you that you need to man up and suck it up. Just keep taking those SSRIs and have single mommy tell you you're the best. No more questions your honor.

Stop feminizing education. Stop telling boys they are toxic. Stop telling white people they are racist. Stop feeding brain pills to kids too young to drink a beer. Stop pretending that being a single mother is a good idea. Defend schools w armed guards, better doors, cameras, etc... Stop conversing with the "you are either with us or against us" self-righteous attitude. Stop using child victims as political pawns.

... finally, throw out all semblance of PC culture, and actually discuss the problem.

But, the fact is that the FBI helped Trump tremendously. Polls show it conclusively.

Comey was covering his ass as a long time bureaucrat. He knew Strzonk and McCabe tainted things (one of them rewrote the Comey Memo removing "Grossly negligent" and replacing it with "Careless" which is not a legal term) and by reopening the case, he brought himself an insurance policy of his own.

Hillary was already suspect in the minds of many long before the reopening of her gross and willful negligence in handling State Department emails.

Yet she was still "Leading the Polls!" and Obama was reminding Americans that when (not if) Trump lost, he shouldn't whinge about rigged elections. Then the Democrats lost and started whinging about rigged elections themselves.
