Yo, tovarich. This is another one of those value-less posts that should never have been made. Just a link is not going to cut it. Unless you have something intelligent to say about a linked article, don't post it. At the very least, post some salient excerpt that illustrates some matter of importance that was previously not well known.

Yes, I'm being a hard-ass the last few days. Yes, I'm probably making a lot of enemies. But this crap has to stop, or Patnet will die from lack of quality. Stop scatter-shooting links. If you cannot be bothered to say something about the linked article, what makes you think there is any value to it?

@tovarichpeter offers interesting links.

Yes and no I'd say. I for sure have read some good links from him, I won't dispute that. My issue is there have been some bad one's and I'm not sure the purpose of why they were posted because no further context is given. I think that's what justme is saying. I tend to find myself scrolling past t-pete's threads because it's just a link and I know from the past I've seen some lame one's. So I generally skip it now.

If I'm looking for news I'll go to a news aggregator or actual media sites to get that info. So I tend to agree with justme that these types of posts, to a very small degree in t-pete's case, drown out what could have been decent content. Pushing original stuff off the home page is bad in my opinion. A link is fine, but some context on what the hell it is, is appreciated. If you get 4-5 active users that behave in this manner, their content (links) become the home page basically in no time.

I disagree. And I think I remember you being here years ago, when Patrick.net was a news link site first, and discussion forum for commentary 2nd. I’m pretty sure tovarichpeter helped post links way back then.

Patrick and those who helped post the links are what Made the Site Great.

What value is there in Me123 harassing people and disrupting conversation?

I appreciate what they’ve done. I can’t imagine a less energy intensive process on this planet then coming to patnet and not clicking a tovarichpeter link. But yous are not the first to complain about him. I don’t get it. Unless you come to patnet for the political banter, then it’s like “ugh, Pete, you’re cluttering up muh good politics threads!”

Wookie- not for or against you on this one, however I saw "t-pete" and kept thinking who the F is that???

Just so you know, round here he is known as Tovbot or the Tovbot. Guy has been here 12+ years but is a real enigma as he never comments.

Go me his links aren't useless. However my biggest complaint is he makes up fake headlines. The article could say prices of homes up 2.5%, but I guarantee you the headline will be "prices crashing"

In other words other sometimes being a waste of your time, guy is harmless.

Meh. He's made 8 comments this month alone. Not a ton by any stretch, but I don't believe he's an actual bot. If I recall correctly he's been to a past meetup when those where a thing here. I could be wrong or thinking of another user. Either way, naming him Tovbot in my opinion is insensitive. T-Pete is more up my alley. Has a more personal ring to it considering I don't think he's an actual bot. I believe he's a remnant from the days when Patrick was doing the news/linking thing. User like that were probably a blessing at that time in the sites history.

Side note. You sound like you've been around for a while. Why not create a username? Just make up an email account and get set up with a user name. That way we know who you are and you'll still be anonymous. We need more active users here that aren't ass wipes and if you're the same anon user I've occasionally interacted with over the last few days, you could be an asset. I'll be honest, I don't like the whole anonymous thing Patrick allows. Step out from behind the shadows if you can.

The problem with that is you have a real threat of personal harm, as Patrick.net has a history of one of it’s members stalking your personal information and attempting to harm you in real life

That’s what @Patrick is all about
