A former top adviser to Barack Obama was among the list of public relations professionals and lawyers consulting Harvey Weinstein over a major New York Times story, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Anita Dunn, a top Obama campaign staffer and former White House communications director, helped offer damage control advice for the Hollywood mogul.

On Thursday afternoon, the New York Times published a major investigation into Weinstein that features on-the-record claims of sexual harassment, including from actor Ashley Judd.

The Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported Wednesday that the Times was working on the story on Weinstein’s personal “behavior." The two Hollywood trade outlets also reported that NBC News' Ronan Farrow is working on a piece about Weinstein for the New Yorker.
...
Sources said that Lanny Davis, former special counsel to Bill Clinton, has been central to the PR effort for Weinstein, who is a major Democratic donor. Dunn, for her part, is the managing director of SKDKnickerbocker, a Washington public affairs firm with deep ties to Democratic politics. She was communications director for Obama’s 2008 campaign and served briefly in his administration.

Weinstein’s legal team is also a murderer’s row of high-profile names, according to Variety and THR: David Boies, Lisa Bloom (who helped bring down Bill O’Reilly), and Charles Harder (who helped Hulk Hogan fell Gawker).

Weinstein responded to the Times story with a statement: “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.”

Let's sit back and watch all the Hollywood and Media Stars and Members of the Obama Entourage who made a big deal out of "Grab the Vagina" start criticizing Weinstein as loudly and as vociferously. Ha!

I thought it was about inappropriate Powerful Male Behavior sending a Message to OUR CHILDREN esp. crushing the Dreams of Young Girls. The founder of Miramax, mon dieu. What about little Amber's dreams of making films?

Yet they all clam up when they're still in the running for getting a Weinstein role in Hollywood. Only when they're past their expiration date do they talk.

Weinstein harassed a lot of bitches, but wants a 2nd Chance. He'll prove it to you by going after the NRA and donating some money to a school.

I'm not even taking liberties in paraphrasing:

So, you don't see a difference between the President of the United States setting a bad example and a Hollywood exec?

Ashley Judd reported a jar of mayonnaise for rape. She doesn't count.
6   anonymous   2017 Oct 5, 4:10pm

Yeah, like behavior on Apprentice was presidential....lets have dog eat dog capitalist values on display with some darwinist panache - that surely resonates with working class disaffected who allege they've been wronged by globalism.
7   Ceffer   2017 Oct 5, 6:59pm

If you can't be a high powered movie executive, and sacrifice yourself to the libidinous, social climbing and job grasping ambitions of endless nymphomaniacal starlets, what has America come to?

Look at that poor face: aged, weathered and eroded by rivers of pussy juice. What greater selflessness can a man give to the noble goal of producing film art?
8   FortWayne   2017 Oct 5, 7:03pm

Who's Harvey?
9   anonymous   2017 Oct 5, 10:24pm

We see this as extremely hypocritical of the left to smear Trump while being guilty of the offense themselves. Saying there exists some double standard for occupational types is nonsense.

But here's some difference - apparently the producer directly harassed individuals, whereas the President's remarks were made in general and in private to a 3rd party.

OK, first of all--the "left" isn't guilty of the offense. Weinstein is. Any more than the "right" is guilty of hypocrisy because Murphy told his girlfriend to get an abortion even though they say abortion is murder.

And second--people who run for President obviously get a LOT more attention and criticism than the average Joe on the street. That's how it is, how it's always been, and probably how it always will be.
11   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Oct 6, 9:42am

Not one of the Late Nite Liberals cracked a joke about Weinstein, a potential future employer with big influence in Media.

Nor has Hillary returned the $250,000 she got from this serial harasser.

DNC and Hillary must disavow.

Trump wasn't President nor running for President at the time he said it. Nor was it said to a Woman, it was locker room talk between him and a little Bush snit.

Of course, as owner of Miramax, a major Hollywood Figure, and a huge Political Donor, Weinstein has no influence on America. And he carried on for years. It was an open secret, known to everybody in Hollywood by the 90s.

Where's the moral outrage? Intimidating young actresses, for shame!

The big sex bazooka fires in both directions.

Libbys can't see that their leaders regard themselves as immune royalty, with their status genetically conferred to their psychopathic spawn.

Weinstein studios has a contract with Showtime and provides americans with enjoyable entertainment that enhances quality of life. Apprentice on the other hand is a death star that did nothing for either mind or soul with trump at the helm and only promoted values that degraded the working and middle classes. Where is the outrage about that?

Yes, it degraded the middle class to watch famous and semi-famous people design marketing campaigns.

When Dee Snyder, Penn Jilette, and Lou Ferrigno shot a mop advertisement in a contest to raise money for charity, wages dropped across the board. Bush and Obama's love of Free Trade and the attendant outsourcing cost no American his job.

And nobody even noticed it until he WAS running for President. That's the point.

There was no moral outrage at any of Trump's many, many harassing statements until he was running for President.

See how that works?

Nope.

Hey, whatever happened to all the Manhattan/Palm Spring Limo Libs who claimed Trump harassed them?

How many suits did Weinstein settle in the past few years?

I expect all the False Accusers to re-file their cases around October 2020.

OK great. What don't you understand and I'll explain it for you? Let's start here. Can you link to ANY time anyone criticized Trump for his statements before he became a candidate for President?

Teehee. You mean settled? Lawsuits were filed. Where's the records? Where's the endless Media articles?

19   Ceffer   2017 Oct 6, 11:22am

When the starlets and climbers are young and pink, they are more than eager to trade their sexuality for advantage.

When they are over the hill and not pink any more, they don their pith helmets and go hunting for the old bastards that screwed them on the way up. I guess you could call it "divorce lawyer deficit syndrome". The Harveys sowed pink moist starlets, and have later reaped the harvest of bitter, browned, menopausal and pre-menopausal rage machines, lusting with greed.

Wasn't that a movie byline, "When the Predators Become The Prey!"
20   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Oct 6, 11:57am

Harvey donated big bucks to Kamala Harris.

She must return the money and disavow, or she endorses Workplace Harassment

Exactly. Where are those? I thought the media was out to get him?? Seems like the media rolled over on him pretty easily.

There are no records when Trump pays off the accuser under the table so that they lawsuit is dropped.

Even the media knew the accusers were fake political operatives, and they had seen the Gloria Aldred+Crying Victim schtick 100x already over the years. Then the promised lawsuits were either never filed or suddenly dropped. THAT, the media wasn't interested in exploring. Just the initial phase to turn voters from Trump.

That's not how it works. The status of filed lawsuits - but not necessarily the contents of settlements- is recorded.

Many americans are fearful of their jobs - due to anti union crusaders/jihadists, many people are even afraid to take vacations lest management determine that they are not "essential." I am sure that hearing "you are fired" on sunday nights did wonders for their self esteem and self confidence...

And not a word reached the Media, pounding the pavement for anti-Trump stories.

And no, in many states settlements out of court ARE recorded and not merely as "Dropped" but as "Settled"

McGee--come on. You are not this naïve. If both parties officially agree on a number, then the case is "settled". If Trump pays of the plaintiff under the table to drop the case, then it is recorded as dropped.

Oh JoeyJoeJoe, you are not this naive. Even if there was no reporting requirements, it would have leaked by either party.

However, in some jurisdictions, including North Carolina, you have to list the status of a filed lawsuit as settled and a great many settlements themselves are recorded by the state. There was just a big case about this involving an insurance company, I think, where an attorney filed to reveal an out of court settlement arguing it was in the public interest, and he won

I'm pretty sure in California you have to file settlement status with the court.

In most jurisdictions you have to record all kinds of things even if the lawsuit is dropped without a settlement. For example, it'll be listed as "with or without prejudice", as to whether you have the right to refile the same claim later.

So yeah, it's not as simple as you make it out to be. Most Lawsuits don't just mysteriously disappear without a trace like you say, even if they are settled.

Obviously part of the under the table settlement is making sure that the plaintiff officially drops it with no settlement.

Of course not. Most defendants don't have the means and motive to pay off their accusers like Trump did.

The Left set the example with Clinton and the Kennedy's.

Clinton and the Kennedy's are still treated like royalty by the Left despite even killing women (Ted Kennedy). The boorish behavior of JFK would make Weinstein blush.

The Left just a few months ago almost elected Clinton's wife who slut shamed Bill's MANY accusers.

So yeah - the Left really has no leg to stand on. I really don't want to hear a Democrat politician or celebrity go on about the "War on women" ever again.

Don't you know there are different standards of sexual harassment depending on whether you are the Executive Officer of a Hollywood Outfit, or the Whole Country?

Just like the President doesn't have Freedom of Speech.
