It really sucked. Two or three days of 106 degrees.

One of the major reasons I moved to coastal CA was for the moderate weather. Hopefully that was just a temporary aberration.

Santa Cruz was boiling hot aka up to 103. Now, lower temperatures but tropical humidity from the air mass tropical storm from baja. However, still cooled off a bit in the evenings, which doesn't happen so much in the Central Valley, the South, or back East. SC used to the the place I would go to get away from the heat. Also, smoke in the air you could smell and taste from fires.

What was that about the great weather in Cali?

Girls tramping with barest clothing and string bikinis was kind of nice.

I was at the beach 2 out of 3 days, China beach was a perfect swim and party zone. I usually enjoy the temporary heat spells the bay area. But many who moved here did so for the moderate weather, this was quite unusual.

Nights are already reaching the mid 40s in the frozen tundra-sigh!
