Every year more health insurers join and more options are available. It's still far from perfect, but why don't other states follow CA lead? People would like ACA more if it were run like Covered CA.

Because all the patients died, just as the Founding Fathers intended?

Link?
OP's statement is devoid of statistics like number of providers in each year Obamacare has been in effect, and average costs, as well as why the define it as successful.

#fuckcalifornia

That's not insurance.. That's paying for the ability to walk into the Hospital and then being still stuck with the entire bill.

There are nearly 40 million people in California (not counting illegals).

I believe Covered California has enrolled about 1.4 million people.

Since California has the highest poverty rate in the country I wouldn't consider Covered California a raging success that it has enrolled only 3% of the population.

$1,000+ a month for “health” “insurance “ isn’t so brutal in California relative to incomes and Cost of Living there

Here in Pennsylvania where one can have a decent quality of life earning income close to the poverty line, paying for “health “ “insurance “ is the difference between a good quality of life and abject poverty. Especially for something you don’t need and has zero value add

Revoke the mandatory insurance part of Obamacare and things will even out. Since Trump isn’t using the penalty money to subsidize insurance companies anymore, there’s no reason to collect it. Let people buy medical disaster covereage and then pay for doctor’s visits out of pocket.

I’ll tell you this for free: most doctors would accept HALF their going rate if it’s paid in cash.

Healthcare cost never increased before ACA!
Eliminate ACA & all govt. interference in healthcare & the Free Market will bring premiums down to $100.00/month for a family of four with no lifetime cost limits.

Fools! Retards! & Republicans!

Also need to encourage competition, and the simplest way is the Colorado method: decriminalize Cannabis and allow Americans the Right to Die. Mixed with the Mexico/Canada method of allowing consumers to purchase medicines without a doctors permission slip. I get that this is far too much Freedom for busybody American voters to cope with, but it’s hands down the most MAGA solution imaginable, and that’s also why there’s Zero chance of getting it from Trump/Republican Government

Couple of years ago I tried to price a plan from county-run Alameda Alliance for Health (or whatever it's named). Silver plan was more than $14K per year with outrageous deductibles and out-of-pocket max (not remember exactly, but along the lines of $7-8K). So yeah, sounds massively successful.

All branches of California government have made the best (or least bad) of the federal legislation. The California Supreme Court ruled against hospitals "balance billing" HMO emergency patients, and 2016 AB 72 legislated against "surprise bills" outside of the emergency context, and additional legislation protects Californians against insurance companies dropping doctors in the middle of a plan year. As a result, the federally mandated insurance is either better or less bad in California than elsewhere in the USA.

Polls showed CA voters approved of the legislation even when most Americans disapproved. In 2016 Hillary Clinton's nationwide popular vote margin was less than her margin in California, meaning she won the popular vote in California but lost across the other 49 states.

In my opinion, the polls and votes are at least somewhat related to the facts.

Another simple way would be to apply NAFTA to the medical sector, so that providers can practice without borders and people can buy whatever they need without government interference. Neither major party advocates anything like that, because both work primarily for the entrenched revenue recipients, whose goal is to maximize revenue, which everyone else calls spending.
