No wonder our country is so f***ed. We skipped over a Silent Generation president and now possibly Gen X. Having the Boomers and the Millennials lead our country for so long will destroy us.

From the article:

"Donald Trump’s election marks the fourth Baby Boomer in a row to inhabit the Oval Office. At the end of his four years in office, Trump’s election will mean 28 straight years of control for his generation—32 if re-elected...

In going from H. W. Bush to Clinton, the presidency jumped over an entire generation, the aptly named Silent Generation (b. 1925-1945), who came home to this new gadget called television after fighting the Korean War. Of its members, John Kerry (b. 1943) came the closest in 2004, but the Silents never got their president. Will Gen X suffer the same fate, losing out to the more sizeable Millennial generation?...

And where do Gen Xers fit in all this? They sit squarely in the center along all these dimensions; the perfect middle child tucked into the interior of the American range of opinion and demographics. Gen Xers also carry some social advantages over their younger peers for making it the Oval Office. More of them self-describe their generation as hard-working, self-reliant, and responsible than Millennials do, and are less likely to see themselves as self-absorbed, wasteful, greedy, and cynical. In this way, they act as a social bridge halfway between their older and younger counterparts....

That's too bad, we need somebody dumber than Trump in the office.

He's your president, the boomer's voted him in.

I've long suspected that the presidency would go directly from the Boomers to the Millennials skipping Gen X. American politics is tribal, and generation is a tribe.

Personally, I just wish the fucking Boomers would die off and loser power. I'd rather see a toddler run the country than another Boomer. All the Boomers have done is killed off half of all life on the planet, endanger our species' existence, sold off America's infrastructure and industry, violated the Constitution, started unjust wars after chicken-shitting out of wars when they were draftable, and continued holding onto racist and religious ideas that have long been debunked.

Outside of engineering, I've never seen Gen X do anything impressive. We did, however, build the Internet and most technology of today, map the human genome, proved Fermat's Last Theorem, and made astonishing advancements in science. But STEM professionals of all generations are admirable.

There are a few concerns I have about the Millennials, but they are way better than the Boomers. My concerns are...
1. Facts don't seem to matter.
2. They have no sense of privacy.
3. They are overconfident.
4. They lack the necessary cynicism to be skeptical of things.
5. Outside of STEM, they are actually under-educated despite have the most degrees. This is because most degrees are worthless.

Absolutely. The most narcissistic group of people I've ever had the displeasure of knowing is the Boomfucks as Ceffer so eloquently calls them.

The Boomers refuse to give up even one iota of their control and power and cling to it with a death grip. Gen Xers are barely able to get into any positions of power whether in politics or corporations since the boomers refuse to relinquish control. Mostly, the Gen Xers who made headway are those who have struck out on their own starting their own businesses outside of the traditional infrastructure, as in Silicon valley start ups, ala Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, Michael Dell, etc.

Class warfare is also generational warfare between the Boomers and everyone born after them.

"So a retiree with a small fixed-rate mortgage in a state with Prop 13 limits on property tax increases who qualifies for Medicare may complain about modest increases in co-pays for office visits and medications totaling a few hundred dollars annually, a young self-employed couple might be facing thousands of dollars in rent increases, healthcare insurance costs, childcare expenses and so on--each a big-ticket item with a crushing impact on household spending and debt.

Households protected from actual big-ticket inflation by subsidies or luck (i.e. buying a house 30 years ago when prices were a fraction of today's prices) have no experience of real inflation. Only the unprotected, unsubsidized households struggling to pay rising rents, soaring college tuition and fees and skyrocketing healthcare insurance premiums have an unmediated experience of the real inflation ravaging the the U.S. economy.

If you're on Medicaid, Medicare or your premiums are mostly paid by your employer, you have no idea of the system's actual costs."

“'If anyone deserves to pay more to shore up the federal safety net, either through higher taxes or lower benefits, it’s boomers — the generation that was born into some of the strongest job growth in the history of America, gobbled up the best parts, and left its children and grandchildren with . . . a big bill to pay. Politicians shouldn’t be talking about holding that generation harmless.'

While half of millennials never expect to get any Social Security benefits, according to Pew, they have protected benefits for existing retirees. Millennials seem to have subordinated their economic and political interests to their parents’. Within a family, this may be admirable; for the country, it’s an exercise in avoidance. We’d be better off with a little less social peace and a little more generational conflict. "

"You're not getting screwed by billionaires and plutocrats. You're getting screwed by Mom and Dad.

Systematically and in all sorts of ways. Old people are doing everything possible to rob you of your money, your future, your dignity, and your freedom.

Here's the irony, too (in a sort of Alanis Morissette sense): You're getting hosed by the very same group that 45 years ago was bitching and moaning about "the generation gap" and how their parents just didn't understand what really mattered in life."

my whole shitty existience is because Boomers Exist!

Boomers are very convincing in their "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps" bullshit stories. They've got you convinced.

Divide and conquer is a fantastic technique. Boomers don't like Gen X and Millennials to unify and understand that both were screwed over by the Selfish-Prick Generation.
