" (For the record it’s been going on for at least 34 years, probably 39, and for some parts of the population, for 46 (that’s when wages for working class white males peaked. Which is why they’re pissy.))"

Any americans buy any outsourced manufactured products?
None of these are the problem.
Any americans unable to vote for anything other than the two party system?
None of these are the problem.

By definition, radicals get to the root of the problem.
The brained washed,economic,religious,political theology citizens
don't know & can't understand why things are the way they are.
All they know is what they have been told. And they believe it.

These same 'tards think by electing one particular person as president
will change things. Guess it could get worse!

George Harrison's song title covers it: "Isn't it a pity."

The main excuse for Obama's economy of not that wages have stagnated for forty years. It's that he took over after a huge asset revaluation. Compare the US performance to other developed nations during this time, not to the US forty years ago.
I agree about the stimulous being more geared towards alt energy. He got pilloried for solyndra. Maybe he should have given more tax breaks for solar installations, but they are pretty big. You could tie such breaks to US panels only, but if the right thinks that welfare prevents people from wanting to work, why wouldn't it prevent companies from being competitive?

Obama squandered a multi-generational opportunity to do a few things right. He simply did not try. When the players on your team betray you, it is then when all hope is lost.

The system is broken, it is clear. That is why Bernie's candidacy (the promise to seek political influence by way of popular movement) gave us a glimmer a hope. Most politicians are bought and paid for. The system cannot be changed from within. Campaign finance reform must be the paramount issue.

Paying people to buy solar panels that are made in China (or cars made in Mexico, Japan, and Korea) is not an economy.

Yep, in 2008 he had a Dem Congress and a huge wave of anger on all sides against big banks. He instead spent this crucial time pushing a divisive Corporate Socialist Program for the Insurance Companies.

Also forgotten is his mega-flip flop on NSA Spying.

Neither is financing wars and paying for old peoples health care so that people can buy gasoline that comes from imported oil without paying for externalities.

It's hard to know who the supplier is going to be when you subsidize the buyer. It certainly is unfortunate that we have lost a lot to the Chinese on solar panel manufacturing. Subsidies have created the market that drove innovation and has made solar price competitive in many markets. FYI subsidies and laws in MD make it a great deal if you have good exposure.

We still make panels in the US, and people (e.g. Solar City/Tesla) are trying to increase that. Also, a panel installation requires a lot of work for siting, electric hookups, installation, mount hardware, etc. As the price of panels goes down, these other items will be the bulk of the cost / profit. It's good to have American companies doing it rather than waiting until some European company whips our ass on that front and starts operating in our country. You have to focus on the whole picture, not just the part that you don't like (China making more panels than the US).
