When I implemented instantly-appearing comments, I forgot to apply user ignore filters to it.

That is now fixed, so if you have someone on ignore, you will not see their instant comments.

Let me know if anything isn't working right.

what is an instant comment?

2   HEY YOU   2016 Oct 28, 9:47am

A proper ignore system would prevent me from seeing all the crap I type as I'm typing.

It used to be that you had to reload the page to see the latest comments on it.

But now, via the magic of websockets, I push the latest comments to all browsers that have that page open. So they just appear without a page reload.

Cool for debates and such, maybe on election day we can talk about how far above 300 Killary will get.

You need to have alts of trolls instantly ignored when a user is already ignoring the troll's primary account.

To implement this, whenever someone registers a new account show three pictures, two of hot women and one of a goat. Ask the user to pick on the one he want to have sex with. If it's the goat, you know it's CIC registering an alt.

The convenient thing for me is that Dan et. al. worry about that stuff so I don't have to.

I don't want to risk being triggered and all...

Calling bullshit on liars isn't the same thing as being triggered. The triggered ignore evidence. The people you complain about demand evidence, which is why you complain about them.

Ah, and CIC comes and gives us the perfect example of someone who is triggered. It's so easy to trigger CIC.

I'm sure you believe that is true.

Another childish attempt at triggering. And another fail.

You reek of hypocrisy.

#Patrick, you should have two separate features: ignore and ban. It's ban people really want.

Ban works like this:
1. A banned user B can no longer post on any thread opened by the author A.
2. All prior posts of B are removed from all threads of A.
3. Those removed posts aren't deleted but rather moved to a "removed posts" thread auto-generated for user B.

Ignore works like this:
1. When user A ignores user B, user A choices one of the following options:
- Hide comments by A. They can be unhidden by clicking a link. The server still sends the post, but JavaScript puts it in a hidden div.
- De-emphasys comments by user A. Instead of being displayed in black, they are displayed in light grey, still readable but easier to skip over at a glance.

Ignoring and banning are independent operations. One does not imply the other.

A third feature that would be nice is one in which an author can set a post and life threshold that a user must meet before posting on the author's threads. For example, the user must have been registered for at least 15 days and must have made at least 10 posts on other threads (including ones made by him) before posting on the author's thread. This will make registration of alts more costly for trolls, and that's a good thing.

You know that CIC is the kind of coward who uses many alts.

and Dan shows us for another day that he just can't stop thinking about GOATS, day after day, after day, after day, after day, after day.....

I only think of goats when I see you posting. You're a constant reminder of sexual desperation. So don't try to deflect your perversions onto others.

Ironically you demonstrated that I just got your goat.

Ironman says

ignores someone, but still replies to their posts

ignores someone bans a troll from posting on his threads so that the troll can't disrupt them like he's doing right now on this thread, but still exposes the lies of that troll on other threads.

There, fixed that for you. It's a pretty childish and lame argument to make that simply because Patrick decided to call a feature "ignore" that it can only legitimately be used the narrow way that you want people to use it. That's lame as shit.

By the way, the actions you describe are the exact actions you must be taking to have this discussion with me right now. That makes you a hypocrite, bitch. Of course, we all knew that already when you ran and hid like a coward rather than meeting up in real life after begging for my address and real-world identity. You really shit your pants in public when you did that several times.

14   indigenous   2016 Oct 28, 11:03am

I see Dan is triggered again.

15   Dan8267   2016 Oct 28, 11:06am

Ironman says

Why don't you try growing up an be an ADULT....

An adult doesn't make false statements about others. An adult doesn't beg for a person's address supposedly to meet up and then coward out when offered a neutral location.

indigenous says

I see Dan is triggered again.

Translation: I hate Dan because he makes me look like a fool. Perhaps I can trigger him by saying that I have already. No, that didn't work? Maybe the audience is stupid enough to be fooled.

Your childish attempts to troll have failed. You are only making yourself look like an ass.

Ironman says

But I'm NOT ignoring YOU

Clearly, neither of us is ignoring the other. The "ignore" link doesn't implement an ignore function. It is a ban function. It doesn't matter what it's labeled, dumb ass.

Then again, you're so stupid that you didn't realize that solar powered wifi repeaters could work at night. #rechargeableBatteriesDumbass

You're also too immature to admit that you were wrong.

In an attempt to get this thread back on subject, I noticed a bug with the site. When new comments are posted back using web sockets, the thread is not marked read. So when you go back to the root page, the thread still appears with the icon indicating unread comments even though the user has already read them.
