Cutting H1-Bs should make the white boys in IT happy and allow them the opportunity to create the next unicorn since they will have eliminated their chindian (mostly Indian) competition. If that happens, the world will finally discover their coding and business acumen. Look guys.....We do not produce enough scientists and engineers to keep us number one. If we want to be "numero uno" we have to produce the most brains. We can't through our screwed up educational system, so we must import the the best brains, which are mostly in China and India. We have always been a nation of immigrants, and the greatest nation on the planet. It's stupid to change that by keeping the most qualified people out.
I want us to remain number one, because our future and the future of our children is dependent on us being Number One. Yes, some of us will lose our jobs, some of us will make less money, but that will happen if we are not competitive anyway. And yes, some of us will always be prejudiced, but who cares. Our country will benefit, the rest of our society will benefit, and we will remain number one.
Let's do the right thing for a change.

Yup, it is Obama who has used the espionage act more than all presidents combined. It is Obama that si negotiating the biggest trade deal in US history in secret-under threat of jail for anybody who reveals its contents.

We produce more than enough elite engineers and scientists in our educational system.

India and China have 7x the population of the United States. Statistically they will produce far more elite genetic outliers in the sciences than we will, and they are willing to work for less money, because their culture, unlike U.S. culture, values science and engineering.

In the United States, the GOP and libertarians heap scorn on scientists and engineers because their conclusions do not always jibe with Republican Party orthodoxy.

If you are concerned about science in the U.S., you need to:

- Fight the GOP hatred of science
- Side with science instead of the fossil fuels industry
- Cease accusing scientists of massive conspiracies when they draw a conclusion you disagree with

Exactly.....The whole world on both sides of the global warming debate are focused on the wrong issue. Airports keep shutting down in China due to pollution. India has to shut down access to cities due to pollution. Everyone agrees pollution is an immediate problem that needs a solution, yet we are focused on global warming. If we solve the pollution problem with clean energy, the global warming problem solves itself.
I just don't get why everyone has to be hung up on global warming.
