Ordered workers to process cancer-ridden cattle •  Its the fourth guilty plea in Petaluma investigation Jesse Babe Amaral Jr., owner of the now-defunct Petaluma slaughterhouse Rancho Feeding Corporation, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute adulterated, misbranded, and uninspected meat, according to U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag.

But I was told that if there weren't all those pesky regulations like meat inspections then everything would be fine. Business would flourish and consumers would be happy. Business would never cut corners and endanger peoples lives just to make a little more profit. No never.

I'm adding this story to my long list of reasons why I like mine well done!

Of course the Republican answer is that we need less regulation of industry so that we can have more of this kind of innovation.

Why don't the libertarians ever come in on posts like this?

If you don't eat small farm, grass fed and locally butchered meat, never, ever pass by Harris Ranch during the day. It's enough to make a person with a heart cry for those beasts. I also feel for the people working in those conditions. Not quite the lovely, pastoral scene.

Lets be clear about one thing here. Eating beef from cancerous cattle, poses no known danger to humans. So its not as if "business is endangering peoples lives", nor is govt regulation saving anyone from anything by keeping beef from cattle whom had cancer off the market.

Lets not pretend that people give the slightest fuck about what they put in their bodies. As for the government, well they literally "educate" the populace, as well as encourage through policy, to consume a diet compised mainly of "food"stuffs that are literally toxic, as they have deleterious effect

True, but if the business was trying to get around regulations, who knows what else they had in their beef.

Amaral should be handed over to isis, their punishments have a bit of cryptic symbolism at times, I wonder what they would plan for him, perhaps skin and grill?

It's the market. Perfectly efficient and working as God intended. The consumer will punish the provider by not buying their "meet*" products.

*(not to be confused with meat. "Meet" may contain up to 100% offal and/or tumors)

Bullshit. The cancer itself isn't dangerous to eat, just not very appetizing. It's the other problems that an animal seriously sick with cancer can have that can be dangerous. Advanced cancer compromises the immune system allowing all kinds of opportunistic infections that wouldn't normally exist. Just having eye cancer isn't a reason for rejection by the USDA, the cancer has to have spread to the lymph system to be rejected.

But hey if you think it's no problem then feel free. You can buy an animal like that real cheap and have it butchered for you any time. Bon Appétit.

But, the left-wing, liberal knuckleheads go wacko on this thread anyway....

It's always nice when someone adds something to the conversation. I'm sure CIC will someday actually make a comment that does that. Shortly before the sun goes supernova I would say based on his track record.

Glad to be of service. Certainly lights years of improvement on the meaningless idiotic drivel you post.
