Thanks not there yet, but I won't stop at 5MM for the reasons above, although if invested appropriately into cash generating assets it canbe enough.

The tax is the new Washington state tax for millionaires which is likely to pass, 10% on top of all the income tax people making 1MM and higher already pay. We live in CA, but it's possible other states will follow, so we'll move eventually.

Not working 4 jobs just to have the government take it a away. I "only" pay child support for my first one, but I know plenty of people (comes with bay area tech) who went from prosper to pauper by way of divorce and alimony.

The craziest about it is that it's all net expense after you paid taxes and you cannot deduct any of it on your tax return.

For example, my stocks are down over $100k since the Iran war started. I suspect they will fully recover, but we will see.
