Hungarian politicians have proposed legislation. That's a long way from offering anything. Good for Hungary. I doubt they'll sell very many, there are a lot more desirable places than Hungary that offer similar programs.

I doubt people will be interested in Hungarian citizenship for its sake. But that passport gives you Euro access including U.K.

That's nice, but the euro isn't going to survive. Chinese know that already. What does "access" to the euro gain anyone? People that want access to the euro are the people who don't have any money and want access to the euro services. People with real wealth don't want access to the euro taxes to pay for these services
You can put the same amount of money into the US and get US residency then citizenship. They never even get 50% of the couple thousand slots filled. So less than 1000 people a year that actually have money are willing to pony up to get into the US. How many are going to Hungary?

Wrong. In the US it is much more complicated. here is the USCIS rules for it.

Plenty of Chinese and Indians make money through the "black" market and have it parked offshore. For many 250k is a pittance to be able to get a foreign citizenship that gives them full access to Euro and get out if an opposition party/communist thug that hates you comes into power.
As for the Euro lets wait and see.
Hungary is offering passports for debt !
