Apparently, our tax returns say a great deal about our character, our politics, and what sorts of policies we support.

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what …

These are people who pay no income tax. 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect… my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

-Mitt Romney

This is not a position I would have expected him to take, as of a month ago.

Well, obviously. It's a wildly innumerate position. But the irony is delicious, is it not?

Mitt Romney is peering into the tax returns of the electorate, and thereby claiming to know our souls.

It is by far the most genuinely funny development of this entire campaign. Hands down. Including the primaries.

Yeah, he's losing it in more ways than one.

I'll be curious to see whether he has the class that McCain showed when it started to be clear (he was going to lose). Or whether he gets really desperate. The debates are going to be interesting.

Romney traded .275 on IEM today. New low by a couple cents
