Not surprising since it's starting to look like the summer of 1989:

I guess you prefer to send your petro-dollars to the Middle East.

No, it's just that I think it's stupid to convert fuel into food. [Edit: food into fuel] And it takes just as much (possibly more) energy to make a gallon of ethanol than you get out of a gallon of ethanol.

We send most of our dollars to Canada now, not the Middle East anymore.

Why just yesterday I saw a cow grazing in a corn field.
As I've shown elsewhere, the main energy content in ethanol (besides sunshine) is domestic sources (coal, natural gas, or nuclear).
Your point is not lost on me, though. BTW, many people read the latest EIA numbers to mean that the US will be off Mid East oil by 2035. Part of this is due to substitution (eg renewables, switching out oil for natural gas, etc.).

Poor dairy farmers.

13   freak80   2012 Jul 6, 9:58am

Oops I meant "food into fuel." I've really got to get more sleep...

The diabetes drug manufactures have forecasted CHEAP HFCS into thier future revenue forcasts. By 2030 95% of america will have diabetes (huge windfall profits!!)

If the price of corn goes up all this is in jeopardy, we need yet even MORE fed subsidies to make corn super super cheap. (otherwise stock market crash!!!! and pension plans fail!!)

They should really pay you to eat that shit anyway (thats a good goal - eat corn and the feds cut you a check like maybe $100 per pound, this might be a productive use of welfare recipients. I cant think of anything else they can do.)

15   freak80   2012 Jul 7, 8:00am

God Bless America.
