In a comment today I pointed out that "limited constitutional government" is code-speak for something very different from what it sounds like:

Limited = no Social Security or Medicare

Constitutional = letting states enact racist laws

What other codewords are used, and what are their unspoken definitions?

We all know what "thug" means lol

2   freak80   2012 Jul 5, 6:00am

Freedom = freedom for the powerful to enslave whomever they wish

3   freak80   2012 Jul 5, 6:04am

Free Market Capitalism = Big Banks get bailed out at the expense of everyone else

4   anonymous   2012 Jul 5, 6:07am

Not necessarily in politics, but all the statists that utilize the government systems for their own personal gains use "we want to live in a good neighborhood with good schools",,,meaning no poor white trash, blacks or "hispanics". As if some people desire to live in a neighborhood riddled with crime and violence with shit for schools

I guess the political equivilant is 'gentrification'- move the subsidized housing elsewhere and clean up the "trash". Ie make it prohibitively expensive so the politically disprivileged cannot afford to live or even walk thru the area

5   freak80   2012 Jul 5, 6:08am

Cap and Trade = Economic rent for Big Banks supported by gullible environmentalists

6   anonymous   2012 Jul 5, 6:08am

Affordable = unaffordable

7   Tenpoundbass   2012 Jul 5, 6:09am

Single payer = a monopoly
Transparency = Convoluted opaque rules shrouded in unofficial sanctioned skulduggery
Green Energy = A working model of inefficiency, that benefits a few, but is subsidized by others.

Mandate = Tax
Healthcare = $1700+++ a month from your average middle class family
Citizens United = the Anti ACORN

Patrick, there are 160+ Electoral votes in states where most of not all of the people think what you've stated above is nuts.

Has it completely escaped you that 63 Democrats in the House of Representatives lost their seats all at once in 2010? Have you forgotten that 23 Democratic Senate seats are up in 2012 and a surprising number of those are in play?

We don't live in the United States of California, Patrick.

9   freak80   2012 Jul 5, 6:12am

Adding Liquidity = printing money

10   dublin hillz   2012 Jul 5, 6:31am

American exceptionalism = our culture is superior

11   Tenpoundbass   2012 Jul 5, 6:39am

Good Schools = Liberal sanctioned segregation and inequality

Broadening the tax base - increasing taxes.

Monetizing the debt - creating artificial inflation with low interest rates and printing money.

Helping the middle class - screwing the middle class while pretending to help them.

Bailout - a handout to politically connected friends.

Taxes for education in CA - our union members have been spiking their pensions so much that we can't afford to keep the scam going, need more tax dollars.

That evil 1% - self denial that local and state government and public unions are the problem. Easier to blame someone wealthy who is not present.

13   Honest Abe   2012 Jul 5, 7:17am

Quantitative easing = more inflation coming
Social Security = Socialized Insecurity
Department of Defense = Department of War
For the children = more pay for teachers
Mandate = tax
Fee = tax
Permit = tax
FED open market committee = a committee to price fix interest rates, against open market forces.
Our Esteemed Leaders = the crooks in office
Affirmative action = reverse discrimination
Fair share = the unequal apportioning of "fairness"
Community Redevelopment Act = gut normal lending requirements, and make loans to unqualified borrowers, or else!
Inheritance tax = death tax
The Fariness Doctrine = censorship
Welfare = dependency, votes
Hatecrime = newspeak for "I know what you were THINKING before the crime".
The Patriot Act = an Unpatriotic act perpetrated upon the American people.

Oops, gotta' get back to work.

Where do you get this shit ?

I've never seen you present any serious logic or an analysis. The sad part is how transparent it is.

"Easier to blame someone wealthy who is not present."

Pension spiking is a problem, (easy to address too) but blaming that for state financial crises isn't much better than blaming foriegn aid or spednding on NPR for federal budget problems.

As always you have no clue, but those talk radio programs or fox or whomever sure can easily manipulate you.

What's it like to be THAT gullible ?

Here again, there are only so many politically correct types like you around. We outnumber you away from the coasts. We outnumber you significantly in the Electoral College. If you sufficiently piss us off, we'll swat you like a fly. That's what happened in the 2010 House races and is very likely to happen in the 2012 Senate races this November. You live in OUR world, we do not live in yours.

It sure feels like republic of CA when sitting in CA.

Good Schools is the most funny codeword !

Did anyone mention 'affordable housing' = code for propping up RE prices no matter what the cost?

Right. But I don't believe that the flyovers can't come around. You have to have faith in the human capacity to learn, and with knowledge they'll change!

I spent thirty years in the Rust Belt and then eight years in the suburbs of Dallas. I know better.

I have you beat. I lived in the rust belt for over 30 years!

2010 was an anomaly. And the white vote is shrinking every cycle, especially in the General. Demographics don't bode well for the GOP, unless there is a resurgent racism in the belt (which could happen, but I think it's offset by the help Obama has given to manufacturing)

Yes, the white vote is shrinking in every cycle...but to expect it to shrink enough to save Obama and the Democrats in 2012 when they lost 63 seats in the House in 2010 is irrational.

NE Ohio and central/western PA are the only two places I know of where the N word is still heard on a regular basis. You cannot imagine how badly those people have been beat up in the past thirty years. It's sick.

23   Dan8267   2012 Jul 5, 11:42am

social conservative = racist

Yeah. But the GOP will do their best to lose independents by their freakish lurch to the right.

Real quick, someone from HS just posted that Obama's appearance and sleepover in Fairlawn this evening (suburb of Akron) isn't even filling up the parking lot in front of Macys. That mirrors what we heard about his appearing in Cincinnati some months ago and his staff not being able to fill up the room.

If he doesn't win Ohio, it's over...and on November 6th, I think the race will be called before I leave work.

When is pension spiking going to be addressed? This giant scam hasn't been addressed, way too many politicians and union leaders turn the blind eye because they are the once robbing the public.

At the end the once who suffer the most are children since schools can never have enough money. During good times funds do not trickle down to education, during bad times it's the same.

Than we have younger teachers who simply get laid off or fired just because they are new, while the union is ran by the old boys club that simply steals from the younger members while they all spike their pensions at the top.

Gotta love the public-indoctrination...er...school system.

"No Child Left Behind makes teachers teach to the test" - really means "having a national standard far exceeding our pathetic results makes us look bad and lose federal funds, can't we just get paid for baby sitting instead?"

37   zzyzzx   2012 Jul 6, 1:20am

No Child Left Behind = Welfare for Teachers.

38   freak80   2012 Jul 6, 1:29am

I can't really bash teachers since they have the Worst Job in the World.

Would you want to babysit 20-30 children of deadbeat parents 5 days per week?

Why do so many people go into teaching? Just so they can have summers off?

39   zzyzzx   2012 Jul 6, 2:03am

Why do so many people go into teaching?

Lavish pension and health benefits, job security, and in some places bloated salaries.

It's a really crappy job. And summers off is barely true, at least in the first few years and depending on the number of subjects taught.

Teach (or babysit) all day. Lesson plans and grading at night. Prep all summer. And low pay/respect.
