I don't know of anyone who ever blamed a gun for a crime. Everybody knows that it's people to blame. The argument is over how much and what kind of weaponry should people be allowed to have.

Following the argument you laid out to its logical conclusion, there should be no laws preventing private citizens from possessing land mines or nuclear missiles. But do you agree with that conclusion?

If not, and I'm assuming your sane enough not to, then the question becomes where do you draw the line between legal weaponry and illegal weaponry?

Wherever you draw the line, you shouldn't be surprise that on a planet with over 7 billion people, there are others who would draw the line somewhere else. What you need to do is come up with some non-arbitrary justification for the right to possess specific weapons and ammo and the right of government to prevent citizens from possessing another set of specific weapons and ammo. Otherwise, you and your opposition are like two ships passing in the night.

Which policies specifically do you believe have caused this country to become immoral.

To me, the policies of torturing people, sexually humiliating them, murdering them, and denying all rights to Habeas Corpus, access to a lawyer, access to human rights groups, and transparency are the reasons our country has become less moral in the past 12 years. And those are all "over-the-top" conservative policies.
