And please don't answer in 10 different fucking comments. You're clearly trying to bury your previous comments with the practice of answering 10 different parts of a comment one by one.

@WookieMan I'm 99% sure you were suffering through the troll duck who has been banned here many times. He is banned yet again.

To some degree the businesses are trapped though, and have to refuse you service if you do not bow to the #fearporn. They could be shut down by the agents of fear otherwise.

I really could not believe that I am not allowed to order coffee from even 20 feet away outdoors if I don't submit to the scientifically pointless humiliation of a mask, but it's true.

The officials who ORDER us to wear masks outdoors should definitely be shot.

Most deaths from COVID are likely people that were their own worst enemy and treated their bodies like shit.

This does seem to be true from the statistics. The non-elderly that die from this seem to generally be obese.

True, could just be cover for an ancient Hillary.

But it's also remotely plausible. Those things really do drop tortoises out of the sky.

Thanks @Booger maybe it really was just scanning for music files and got carried away because of a bug. Still annoying. Maybe the browser version is good enough to use.

It was a revelation for me when I met a young Chinese woman at a tech meetup in SF who was just off the "boat" (ie, 747) in the last few weeks, and had literally never heard of this moment.

I was chatting with her because she was trying to learn about SF tech culture, and from my point of view, she was reasonably hot, about 23.

I kept trying to explain the guy who stood in front of the tank, and I'm convinced she was not faking. This event has been so thoroughly suppressed in China that it was simply not available to her.

History has successfully been rewritten in China.

the health care system is about to get crushed just by the small % of people who do get severely ill.

I was wrong about that, except for New York.

The health care system didn't even get remotely close to getting crushed. In fact, most hospitals are now in dire financial condition due to lack of patients.

But we have since hired external consultants, so it will never happen again.

Someday soon, there will be an objective analysis of media text proving that they gave Trump 100% negative media coverage no matter what he did.

It's really not that hard to do with recent text analysis tools.

Of course, even if there is such an analysis, and it is compelling, it will be hard to find for most people because Google won't let them find it.

But anyone who has been paying even the least bit of attention already knows this is true.

The media kinda blew it by making Trump's coverage 100% negative. To maintain credibility, they should have made it, say, 75% negative.

Through the COVID-19 crisis, many have become familiar with N95 masks, which filter out 95 percent or more of small particulate matter from the air – including the virus.

But in filtering those particles, the mask also makes it harder to breathe. N95 masks are estimated to reduce oxygen intake by anywhere from 5 to 20 percent. That’s significant, even for a healthy person. It can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. If you wear a mask long enough, it can damage the lungs. For a patient in respiratory distress, it can even be life threatening
  Patrick   ignore (1)   2020 May 23, 5:45pm     ↓ dislike (0)   quote   flag

The bigger danger to masks is probably the impediment to getting rid of CO2.

This is normal. Violent black racism against white people is at least an order of magnitude more common than the reverse.

But completely ignored in the mainstream press.

The press lies, and omits, and distorts.

Why would anyone even read the mainstream press anymore? It's truly worse than useless if you really want to know what's going on.

Word of the day Patrick: Akata

Thanks, didn't know that one. Lol, the first three search results are all DENIALS of the meaning, which makes that meaning about 100% certain:

Contrary to popular opinion among non-Yorubas and some Nigerians or Africans who does not understand this word, akata does not mean coton picker or slave and it is not derogatory.

The term is falsely believed to be a derogatory term used by Yoruba Nigerians and other West Africans to refer to a black person or Yoruba person who is born in the United States or a black person who was born somewhere other than Africa.

Akata is a Yoruba word that means "wild animal" and is contextually applied to Black Americans. This piece discusses why that is problematic and why we should not claim the term.

OK, Akata means the typical US black ghetto American.

I worked at a tech company with a black guy who really impressed me with his programming skills. To be honest, this had never happened before, so I asked one day about his heritage. His mother was Belgian, and he said his father was from Nigeria. So I asked what tribe. Yup, Igbo. OK, it's an anecdote, but extremely consistent anecdotes add up to science.

I'm sure there's a bell curve among the Igbo too, but it does seem to be a fact that different racial and ethnic groups have different average intelligence.

It has to do with environment. If you improve it for several generations then you will see improvement in IQ testing.

But also, as with Jews and Armenians, there was probably:

1. a strong barrier to intermarriage with the surrounding people
2. better reproductive success for smarter members of the group (so the group was competing within itself)

A relatively small group with a strong barrier to intermarriage can quickly raise its IQ when its smarter members have a reproduction advantage over other members. But if they interbreed with outsiders, their intellectual advantage gets diluted quickly.

Also, mercantile groups have pressure to increase their IQ relative to the outside groups they sell to, for the same reason that predators are typically much smarter than their prey. They need to be smarter in order to eat. I'd expect the Igbo are merchants with a long history of selling to their neighbors, but I don't know that for sure.

I've read that one reason that Sephardic Jews in Turkey have lower average IQs than Ashkenazi Jews in Europe was that the Jews in Turkey were blocked from becoming the dominant merchants of the area by the Armenians, who were already the well-established merchants. The merchant niche was already occupied.

All an undocumented immigrant has to do

Let's remember that they are not merely "undocumented", as if they lost their papers.

They are here illegally, which makes them illegal immigrants. They are criminals by this fact.

By cutting in line, they have also shit upon the many fine people who are following the law to immigrate to the US legally.

You wrote a book about housing and were featured on 20/20 which I remember watching.

It is now for you to write another book about concepts like that above in quotes and others that you have shared on this website besides about the housing trap. It can be based on your experiences going all the way back to Ann Arbor.

After it is published, I can arrange security for your safety especially if you decide to remain in the San Fran Bay Area.

Thanks @ad

I have been working on such a book for a while now.

look at womyn vs men: womyn tend to major in English, psychology, and other assorted "studies", while men get degrees in engineering, which is still useful

This was one of James Damore's valid points - points that got him kicked out of Google.

When women are completely free to choose their careers, as in Sweden, they avoid engineering.

It is mostly the women with limited options who choose engineering, such as Indian women who must choose something like engineering to get that H1B visa to come here to take QA jobs and undercut US wages (but still do far better than in India). We don't grant H1B visa to psychology majors and they know it.

Or, a long history of selling their neighbors. This wiki entry lets slip that Igbo have a tradition of enslaving other ethnic groups

Sure, that's believable.

You have to wonder if a lot of slaves became slaves because they were not quite as smart as the people who were capturing them. Predators smarter than prey, again.

Not everyone, just a tendency. There's a book from 1789 by an Igbo guy who was captured and enslaved:

Sales of previously owned homes fell 17.8% from March amid stay at home orders across the US, with the biggest dips seen in the West. Sales were down 17.2% from a year ago, NAR reported.

And that's the NAR, who always spin and sometimes lie.

It's not necessarily about the Bay Area in particular, but is about the west of the US.

London property websites haven’t used the word “reduced” for many years. But it’s starting to appear again on homes for sale and rent, even in core city postcodes. And in another sign of the downturn, homes can now be on offer for months without moving.

The problem is that prices were already ready to tumble before Covid-19, as I discussed in July:

All in all, it would therefore be surprising if prices didn’t continue falling, back to the average house price/earnings ratio of the pre-2000 period. A temporary over-correction, where they went even lower, would also be normal after such a long period without a major fall.

San Francisco is likely subject to similar pressures, except Brexit.
