At this point I won't be surprised if it turns out it was an inside job.

Yup. We are in the era where the burden of proof has flipped from presumptive credibility to 'false flag until proven otherwise'.

I'm thinking more along the lines of an employee(s) deliberately living a backdoor open and then staging the attack to grab some "fuck-you money" from the company.

I have a few friends who are active duty, and they have told me that they are making your life a living hell if you don't get the shot, with stupid isolation rules and multiple quarantines lasting weeks/months if being deployed.

Wait a sec: if a soldier is not vaxxed he spends his deployment in a quarantine barrack instead of being in the field, under enemy fire? Some punishment, lol.

The answer to "Did you get vaccinated yet?" is:"Have you signed up for the 3rd shot?" and instead of looking pissed or disgusted, try to look enthusiastic and cheery/smiling while answering the question with a question. Chances are that you will be amused by their reaction.

I simply answer "yes", because, technically, I've been vaccinated many times against variety of diseases. I even have one of these WHO "yellow books" with some of vaccinations listed there. =))

Their citizens may not love their govt, but as long as the standard of living and wealth keeps rising, and the govt doesn't do anything too heinous to them, they wont revolt.

And that standard of living is rising at the expense of American workers whose standard of living is falling.

BTW, you may laugh at one of my diversification modes.. It's highly non-portable (extremely heavy and bulky), and only moderately well suited for storage. Metal, but not precious metal.. cast iron! But not just any cast iron: mildly used non cnc machine tools in functioning condition. As CNC comes online more and more places, and manufacturing is offshored to china, old american cast iron can be found at under scrap prices. On the flip side, even an industrious thief wouldn't be able to readily steal my machine tools.

The question is: with Idiocracy rapidly approaching how many people would be able to understand what these machines even do, let alone be able to do something useful with them. I mean, we're already in the era of manual transmission being a pretty good car theft deterrent ...

PS. My favorite "it must have been an MBA's idea" story is Lowe's buying OSH stores, completely remodeling all of them (which must have cost them tens of millions $$) only to shut down the whole thing about half year later.

Won't matter because within less than a year all the escalators will be permanently CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE anyway. Such is the Turd World.

Fly out to SF for a week and go on "shopping spree". More than pays for the tickets, hotel room and rental car.

You could actually do that if you have the ballz.

My elderly neighbor hasn't paid for a BART ticket for more than a decade. She just walks in and out through the emergency exit. Her reasoning? If brothas are allowed to ride free, why not her? And every East Bay homeowner already pays for BART as a line item on their property tax bill.

Don't forget that your car is also tracking you. Did you know that your car has the similar type of black box as an airplane that tracks your driving? Or that your E-Pass tracks your location even when your not going through a toll plaza?<

I wonder how do they transmit this information back to "home base".

They usually don't (unless it's a Tesla with it's own GSM sim on board), but that data can be subpoenaed by a court or read by a dealer.

Average age of vehicles hits all-time high

No surprise here: it's really hard to get excited by anything offered now. It's basically same shit as 10-20 years ago but with 2-3 cylinders lobbed off and turbo added to the engine and 10-speed auto or dreaded CVT instead of normal transmission. And then there is all this annoying why-tech wizardry: lane warning, lane assist, collision warning, emergency brake assist, this assist, that assist...... can I just fucking be left alone to drive in peace?

Think about it - what would be the purpose of assassinating a spy in such an obvious way? It's the same with the Skripal's.

This one is easy: intimidation. "Look, we can kill anyone on your territory, even somebody you extended your protection to - a traitor to Mother Russia. And there is nothing you can do to meaningfully retaliate*. And if we can kill a former spy, protected by your alphabet agencies, we pretty much can do it to anyone, mkay? Keep this in mind and have a good rest of your day".

*) Did UK retaliate in any way? Nope.

There are about 20,000 Model As roaming the USA. Easy to work on and parts are readily available.

Nah, this is too slow and brakes are shit. 1990-2007 is the sweet spot.

You could make a nice living stealing just under $950 per trip and selling on eBay.

Ironically, the buyer on eBay will be arrested for possession of stolen property. The $950 limit only refers to the original robber.

Who's gonna prosecute?

Charles Cole, author of In Russian Wonderland: An American's Odyssey in Soviet Russia, contacted me. His memoir recounts his time in 1972 as a Russian-speaking American "guide"

Also illuminating is the story that Cole recounts of when he and his fellow guides went to dinner. They were approached by English-speaking black men from Africa. Cole asked if their country sent a lot of exchange students to Moscow.

'Oh, yes,' replied one, 'we send all of them here to the Soviet Union.' He explained why: 'We used to send quite a few of our students to Princeton, Columbia, and Berkeley, but they all came back Marxists. Now we send them here, and after three or four years in the USSR, they all return dedicated anti-communists.'

But even your "sweet spot" 1990-2007 cars often have drum brakes in the rear.

Rear is ok. The front does most of the braking anyway.

OK, now you are on the slippery slope to the complexities of ABS and autonomous breaking......

I'm not on any kind of slope. I have no bones with ABS. And which cars before 07 had "autonomous braking" (whatever it is)? So I know what to avoid. =))

It's mostly true for rimfire. Centerfire guns usually tolerate dry firing pretty well.

Autonomous breaking is when the cars front radar/sonar detects an imminent collision and applies the brakes. Honda/Acura stated that in production models around 2003-2004.

Ah, I remember reading back in the day something about one of these things braking suddenly and violently in front of these metal plates they put over holes in road during construction.... Hopefully they have got better since then. Still don't want any of that stuff in my cars.
