I vacationed in Aztec NM a few years ago, and talked to a local school teacher - they also had a school shooting with 2 dead if I remember correctly. The kid had threatened to shoot up school, they reported him to FBI, and then...nothing happened until the school was shot up.

The Gov of Texas gave an on-air interview that spoke of 14 kids and a teacher killed plus how the suspect was killed. The Gov also mentioned the name of the suspected shooter. It was a Hispanic name, but none of the local online newspapers mentioned the name even though they had all other details. The papers did manage to insert a mention in the article about the Buffalo shooting, where they clearly noted the race of shooter and victims.
