Patnetters:

The first two alphabets in my kid's first and last name are RO and JA respectively.
Which of these two nicknames sound better to you, RO or RJ?

Much obliged for the responses.

No need to give kids names, but I prefer it to involve the name itself. I don't like initials. We have a neighbor JJ and for some reason it annoys me.

Most I'll dox myself here, but we call my oldest Grahamski. Youngest Dean-O. And little shit as well. The names are obvious at this point, but I have the fortune of having a common surname and first name, so I'm hard to find.

I've got Boss baby going on 5 years old. He'll probably still be Boss Baby when he's 20.

And the other one is Johnald Trump.

I think ours is pretty similar to everyone above. Call our youngest a “balloon man”. He really loves balloons.

Scarred by one too many episodes of Good Times?

Roja is the feminine of "red" in Spanish. Maybe that's useful.

How about 'Servant 1' and 'Servant 2' etc, with barcodes on their foreheads to bring up their birthdays etc. so as not to be inconsiderate.

In high school, I had a lot of nicknames...

One day, my buddy says, hey I'm calling you RJ from now on.

What? Why? I ask.

Rim Job

Those Fuckers. I miss them sometimes

I was given an obscene nickname in college, too. I would be walking along minding my own business and some effer from the old dorm would scream it out as loud as they could across the crowds in Sproul Plaza when they saw me. It took years before I lived that one down. A beneficial and unexpected side effect was girls thought I must have something special and I got laid a few times.

The guy who gave me the name was from a wealthy family in the East Bay. He went to law school, became a judge. My next door neighbor (also a judge, recently retired) in tri valley now graduated from law school with him, and one of my clients was his sister in law. Never saw him again, though.

I saw an add today for a boat in Free Stuff on Craigslist. The ad said "ask for Malaka".
I called and asked.. "Are you the poor soul that either may or may not have a boat you're trying to get rid of?"
I figured if he didn't have a boat, then he was the brunt of a Grecian Practical joker, and if he did have a boat, he goes by the Greek word for "one who rubs one out".

He just said "Wrong number!" and hung up, confirming my suspicious about the practical joker.

My dad called me "Shit-For-Brains" and mom "Failed Abortion".

Not really, I had great parents.

I did call my kid Trump once and a female stranger gave me the stink eye, it was funny.

If Spanish is in play T-Hueso is another of my seldom used nicknames. English version is mostly used. My Spanish class name was Ricardo. And don't talk about the game Jenga in Spanish classes. Señora hadn't heard of the game and thought we were swearing. Took 10 minutes of explaining after class. Weird argument as we didn't know what she was upset about. Lol. I had stupid fun in high school.

I call my youngest daughter “Bibs” because of her middle name which is actually Vivian but that got turned into Bib and then Bibs when she was a toddler. Still works!

Yeah when I take the two of them to the store, and they are raging all over the place. Like trying to turn off the light switch in the refrigerated and frozen sections. I call out "Put that BACK Boss Baby" or "Get over here Johnald Trump, leave that alone!" I get the craziest looks.
I feel like I'm turning into "My Black Mama" that Mad TV character Artie Lang used to play.
"Don't make me break my foot off up in your Ass!" The whole store must hear us, from the time we walk in, until the time we walk out.

Then when we're in the check out line, Johnny will ask "Hey dad, am I being Good?" thinking he might get some checkout counter candy.

Storytime: I used to be called JB, or JayBee when I was a kid. We called my son JB and followed with KC for our Daughter. My dad carried the same name as me and my son. When my Dad passed, I went to clear up his estate in his tiny deep southern hometown. I stopped by the Post Office (1 person running everything!) and asked if she knew my dad. She responded, "You mean JayBee?"

Traditions are nice.

Right, lovely story.

At Schwab, when you worked on the mainframe, your username was the first two letters of your first name and the first two letters of your last name. Don't know what happened with name collisions.

So I was PaKi for a bit. Which was kind of funny, except that the Pakistani guy didn't like it.

Craig Appleton hated his username.

A boy or a girl? To me, "RO" sounds more feminine, "RJ" more masculine.

In UK, Pakistanis are referred to as Paki or Pakis in a derogatory manner.
