George Clooney said he doesn’t know Alec Baldwin well, doesn’t believe he or anyone else on the set of “Rust” intended “to do anything wrong” and calls the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins “a terrible accident.”

However, Clooney raised new questions about Baldwin’s actions on the set of the low-budget Western, both as the actor handling the gun that killed Hutchins on Oct. 21 and as one of the film’s producers.

In an interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast, the Oscar winner called Hutchins’ death “infuriating,” given strict gun safety protocols put in place on film and TV sets following the deaths of his friends, actors Jon-Erik Hexum and Brandon Lee in 1984 and 1993, respectively.

“Every single time I’m handed a gun on the set — every time — they hand me a gun, I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I’m pointing it too, I show it to the crew,” Clooney said. “Every single take.”

Clooney, who has worked as an actor and director on film and TV sets for 40 years, continued, “Part of it is because of what happened to Brandon. Everyone does it. Everyone knows” that is the protocol to follow.”

...Clooney, 60, suggested that Baldwin, 63, should have checked the Colt .45 himself after he was given the gun to use to rehearse a gunfight scene.
....
Clooney said he wouldn’t have just taken someone else’s word that the gun was safe.

“Maybe Alec did that (checked the gun himself) — hopefully he did do that,” Clooney added. “But the problem is dummies are tricky because they look like real (rounds). They got a little tiny hole in the back (from which) somebody’s (removed) the gunpowder.”

Clooney said he would have taken yet another step to ensure the gun was safe. “I mean every time I get handed a six-gun,” or a gun that holds six cartridges, “you point it at the ground and you squeeze it six times,” he said. Clooney noted that “it’s just insane” not to.

Clooney also said he has never heard the term “cold gun,” which is what Baldwin reportedly heard from Halls to indicate the gun was safe.

“I’ve never heard the term ‘cold gun,'” Clooney said. “I’ve never heard that term. Literally. They’re just talking about stuff I’ve never heard of. It’s just infuriating.”

Clooney’s experience with using guns on film sets was echoed by another veteran star, Matthew McConaughey, last month.

Like Clooney, McConaughey didn’t want to sound like he was criticizing Baldwin, but in an interview with AFP, the Texas-based Oscar winner said he “personally would try to always take even more steps” as an actor using a gun, including checking the weapon himself.

“You can’t over-confirm it,” McConaughey said.

McConaughey also argued that real guns can safely be used on movie sets so long as protocols are followed. His comments come as calls have grown to ban real firearms from film and TV sets.

Baldwin executed her. He's a "minion of Midas":

"‘The Minions of Midas’ Ending Explained
The series concludes with Víctor making peace with his oppressors. He walks out of his office and sits in the Limousine (symbol of power and capitalism). Víctor, in simple words, submits to the highest order, that is “The Minions of Midas” and becomes a minion himself. He becomes a part of the disorder and tyranny, he once revolted against. The companions of Víctor who refused to submit are lying peacefully in eternal sleep."

Victor figured out that his initiation into the 'Minions of Midas' was to commit a murder, sealing him with both moral compromise and blackmail, and he does so.

https://notthebee.com/article/alec-baldwin-says-he-didnt-pull-the-trigger-on-the-gun-in-his-hand-that-fired-and-killed-cinematographer-halyna-hutchins

Let's get to the major head-scratcher here:

I didn't pull the trigger.... I would never point a gun at anybody and pull the trigger at them.

That's an interestingly-worded statement.

Okay, now for my questions.

DID HE POINT THE GUN AT SOMEONE? If my gun kills someone that I pointed it at, no judge is going to take "I didn't pull the trigger" as a defense. Baldwin must have pointed it at Hutchens (by all accounts unintentionally), since bullets don't defy the laws of physics (nice try, Wanted).

How did the gun fire? Guns aren't magic items that act of their own volition. Baldwin was using an antique revolver on the set of his new Western film. Such revolvers use a single or double-action of the trigger to fire. Single action can only fire if someone pulls the hammer back. Double action uses the trigger to set and release the hammer.

Did Baldwin graze the trigger by accident while he was pointing the gun carelessly in Hutchins' direction? Did he hit it against something that caused it to discharge (older revolvers are often lacking a transfer bar that prevents the gun from firing if it's dropped or jolted)?
Did Baldwin cock the weapon, or if not, might it have been handed to him that way? If the latter, what kind of armorer would do that??
I have zero clue. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but denying pulling the trigger just seems like a copout.

9   Eric Holder   2021 Dec 2, 1:31pm

The gun in question is a single action revolver, not a fucking Glock. It would not fire even if you simply press the trigger w/o cocking it first. So it requires not one but two deliberate actions in order for the gun to fire. The only situation where such a revolver could fire w/o cocking and pulling the trigger is when the gun is dropped on a hard surface while its hammer is resting on a loaded chamber (also rare and stupid situation because you're supposed to have it resting on a special notch between chambers).

Alec Baldwin is a lying sack of shit.

Were the people shot even going to be on camera? I thought this was in-between scenes being shot (pun intended) either way? As everyone here has said, you just don't point a gun at someone, even goofing off. He'll get involuntary manslaughter or similar.

I'd actually like to hear what Keanu Reeves would have to say about this given the John Wick series. Clooney is fine, and I think his opinion is right. You simply just don't fuck around with a gun, period. You also have zero clue any behind the scenes motive of the armorer, so you double check what was handed to you. This isn't like a manager asking an employee to go get some shit from the back room. You check the gun and ask 2-3 times if you have to. Or make sure you're trained with fire arms and ammo before taking the gig.

I predict he's gonna see a short jail stint. It was reckless homicide and it can't just be blamed on the armorer.

Baldwin is an idiot.
Yet another asshole falls to the “Trump curse”.
Baldwin, both Cuomos, Megyn Kelly, others who criticized Trump are now losing their jobs, it’s great.
John McCain is dead of course.
I should make a complete list sometime.

I saw most of the interview between Baldwin and Stephanopoules. Here are my takeaways.

1. Baldwin comes off as sincere. (That doesn’t mean he is innocent but it will play well in the court of public opinion.)

2. If Baldwin’s story is correct, they were rehearsing a close up shot where the cinematographer (the person who was killed) was directing nearly his every movement at the time of the incident. He was literally pointing the gun at the cinematographer while she was looking away from him and into the display of the camera that was in turn pointed at him. She was telling him where to point the gun so they could get the perfect shot, no pun intended. They were legitimately rehearsing the intricate details of where the gun should be pointed, how his fingers should move etc... which sounds pretty standard. In other words they were not goofing around they were legitimately working at the time of the shooting.

3. Alec Baldwin claimed he was told as a young actor never to manipulate the action or controls of a firearm on the set unless directed to do so, because the prop people have to undo whatever he would do, creating more work. (This does not mean he is innocent either, but he comes off as sincere in believing that it is in no way the responsibility of the actor to practice firearm safety). He basically admitted that he does not practice firearm safety and he never has on the set of any other movie. He seems to believe that the actor should blindly trust the prop people to do their job and that it is not his job to question them, or double check them.

4. He said that just before the gun went off, he was rehearsing pulling back the hammer, and was told by the cinematographer to slowly ease back the hammer, which is what he was doing the moment the gun went off. So in other words, he did not pull the trigger, he dropped the hammer. (He also gave the impression, though he never used these words, that he seems to believe that you must pull a trigger for a gun to fire -which of course is not true)

5, Alec Baldwin is an idiot who should not have been handling a firearm because he does not understand or practice firearm safety and he should feel extremely guilty for accidentally shooting his coworkers.

If somebody didn't pull the trigger this would be the first words out of his mouth: "WTF?! Why did this thing fire? I didn't pull that trigger!". That person would want the whole world know immediately that he didn't pull the trigger, not several weeks later. This shit reeks.

He's a fucking actor... he's been taught to "act" . when you act, you can say anything with a straight face... including lying... and display any emotion at the snap of a finger...Does anyone know if he was at the bottom of his class when he deciced to consider acting as a profession? Does anyone ask him why he didnt leave the country when political figures he hates were elected... I recall that happening to him... and oh... I forgot... he was "Acting".. this gives him a "Front" to say whatever the fuck he wants.. He needs to spend some time time behind bars, and he gets to meet Bubba from behind..... long overdue...
21   Ceffer   2021 Dec 4, 4:52pm

When he was commissioned for the murder, I am sure they had all of his scripts and acting parts already worked out for him to try and get away with it. The delay in his interview was the time he needed for his lawyers to get things straight for him and for him to rehearse his part to a tee.
22   PeopleUnited   2021 Dec 4, 6:13pm

Some other takeaways from having seen most of the interview:

1. While he does come off as sincere, I am find myself disbelieving him, because while it is possible that he is just that stupid, I don’t believe he is that stupid. He knows better than to point a gun at someone before making sure there are no live rounds in it. In other words he is lying about the fact that he does not feel guilt for his role in the shooting.

2. George Stephanothonest was only slightly harder on Alec than he would have been interviewing a Girl Scout, in other words he was not doing journalism he was doing propaganda, just like he did for Biden during the election “Town Hall.”

3. Alec has kids the same age and younger than the son of the woman he shot, so he can relate quite well to what he took from the boy and his father.

4. This gets into hypotheticals, but let’s say I’m Alec Baldwin and I want to get away with murder, this interview would be the perfect cover for my true intentions.

5. Another hypothetical, let’s say I want to get away with murder and frame someone else for it, and I know Alec Baldwin never practices gun safety, this would be the perfect way to frame him for it.

6. And yet another hypothetical, let’s say the woman killed wanted to commit suicide and stick Alec with the responsibility and maybe make a ton of money for her family, knowing Alec doesn’t practice gun safety, this would be the perfect way to commit suicide without taking the blame, after all she gave him the directions on where to point the gun, maybe she put the live round in herself.

7. But then again maybe it was just an accident cause by poor prop management and lack of gun safety by Alec and the rest of the film crew and cast.

Not sure it works in this case. All the stories are being sorted out. Once you get under oath your public persona goes away. I have a feeling people are gonna bus toss Baldwin on this one. Hence why he's doing interviews and seeming like the victim and making defense arguments on network television. If you did nothing wrong, why do that?

This part likely will happen. He'll be out when he's charged (not if) the same day. There's a lot more to this. Does Baldwin have a FOID card? Is it required in New Mexico? Just because you're an actor filming, doesn't mean existing gun laws don't apply.

Once people are under oath, stories change real quick when in court. Crew probably felt like they had to protect Alec during this first news cycle or get canned from upcoming jobs. Him saying he didn't pull the trigger is a joke. I'm no cinematographer, but there's almost zero chance he would/should have pointed the gun at the cinematographer. I've also read they weren't even shooting a scene at the time. I get there's rehearsal, but there shouldn't even be blanks during a rehearsal. If there's concern with using the gun go practice out back away from people.

I hope they pulled a blood draw or breathalyzer. This seems like an actor drinking on set and fucking around with the gun. He's been known to get fucked up.

Why experts say Alec Baldwin hasn’t handed over his phone

Alec Baldwin, who has yet to turn over his cellphone to law enforcement in connection with the law enforcement investigation into the fatal shooting on the set of the movie “Rust, may be holding onto the device for a number of reasons, legal experts told The Post on Friday.

The lawyers theorized that the 63-year old actor may be concerned about the possibility of “incriminating” evidence on the phone— including deleted texts or photos that could hold him in criminal contempt–or may simply want to keep his private conversations out of the public eye.

“There could be incriminating evidence on the phone, or it might be for privacy reasons,” said Kevin Kearon, a former Nassau District Attorney’s Office who’s now a criminal defense lawyer.

“If he deleted text messages or call records then he would face the possibility of criminal contempt,” said Kearon, who works at the Long Island firm Barket Epstein Kearon. “Or if there are personal messages, for example, between he and his wife, it’s not shocking that he wouldn’t want them in the public domain.”

Investigators previously asked Baldwin for his cellphone because they believe it contains key conversations related to the prop-gun death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October.

Baldwin responded by telling them they would have to get a warrant, and they did so last month — though the phone has yet to be handed over to New Mexico cops.

Kearon said the move flies in the face of the actor’s previous vow to fully cooperate with police.

“It’s not consistent with his pledge early on to cooperate with law enforcement,” he said. “It certainly looks suspicious to the average person.”

I honestly think it was premeditated at this point. If you have nothing to hide just give the cops your phone. Hell I'd give anyone my phone and open it for them. If you've got stupid/incriminating shit on your phone, well you're stupid. Then withholding it from cops with a warrant makes you look double stupid. If this ends up with a jury trial, he's fucking himself over right now. Unless that is the plan to a get a fan of his on a jury and it will be a hung jury or no decision. Jury selection would be a big deal in a trial for someone as prominent as Baldwin(s) is.

Honestly, my postings to this site would be the biggest worry and a few photos of the wife in a bikini or thong that she didn't know I took. Fully clothed. All X rated stuff is on a micro SD card, not online and in a safe no one could ever access without tearing apart my house and then breaking into the safe. Basically I'd be dead for that to happen. It's hard to believe that a multi-millionaire Hollywood actor could be that dumb (maybe not...) and not have a burner or only communicate via phone call if he's planning something shady or has something shady on the phone. Just hand the phone over.
