It's Trump's fault. Ask any democrat.

Remember when the last time Democrats took the majority in congress in 2006? What happened a year or so later?

It's the biggest drop, the greatest, trust me.

It will be, the incoming Dems will make sure of that.

There's nothing wrong with some coal, it's carbon and can be made into something or burned for energy.

Imagine getting a worthless rock, like a granite pebble in your stocking. That's worthless.

Free market forces are finally overwhelming the governments rigged game. Stocks almost always push higher in December so CEO's can collect their bonus's. There aren't any elites who wanted this outcome.

Potential government shutdowns are often good buying opportunities.

Or take that stone, put it in a sand tumbler to make it look like a polished gem. Now give that gem as a gift to mom next Xmas.

It's not the "worst December since the Great Depression". On a percent basis it's not a huge deal.

Since the Nov 2016 election, the US stock market (Wilshire 5000 index) is up 14.5% That's not too bad for a two year return on your money.

Of course, when it was up 30% since Nov 2016 it was great, when it drops it feels bad.

Wait and see when the Christmas sales and profits are known.
13   clambo   2018 Dec 25, 7:29am

As of Dec 25 the Wilshire 5000 total stock market index is up 11.51% since Nov. 2016

The sky is falling!

Get a grip.

There is no money, especially if we bring millions of illegals every year.

Liberals are clueless when it comes to economy.

If Americans become mobilized politically they can still make defined benefit retirement pensions come back.

The labor movement brought about the new deal. Unions were formed to protect taxpayers from becoming victims of superior leverage exerted by centralizing financial forces.

You can criticize all of it but people of those generations made out better than any other. They had secure retirement because they fought for it during the 1930s.

Us raised in the 50s and 60s had the best life ever known.

PTB will just move all production to China and India. Globalization has screwed over poor and middle-income people in US. It is also reasonable to ask how we should mobilize - and the answer (which no one likes) is not under glorious leadership of Herr Trump, and not under weasels called Democrats.

jazz_music says
because they fought for it during the 1930s.

Because most of the industrial world was ravaged by WW2 to a large extent, and because it was impossible to move production to China.
I'd like to see a way how to fix the current system where CEO earns 1000 times more than average worker even if he fails, but I simply do not see how.

About topic of the thread, stock market was and still is overvalued, so it had to drop. I do not think D election or Trump shooting off his mouth was the underlying cause.
Shiller P/E is still high, at about 26 while historical average is about 15-16. It has still room to drop.

Our government made these sociopathic "corporate persons" and we can bring them to heel if we try.

Our government is owned by those "corporate persons" and electing someone who is not owned by them is next to impossible. In every election we have a selection of supposedly anti-corporate candidates who will in reality will be owned by some clan of very rich people.

The money went to the top.

You can't not know that.

Bullshit scare tactics about other people. We can deal with them without the unnecessary drama.

How?
Is there a single instance of this happening?

I'm pretty sure Venezuela has one of these.
