I was going to submit this story about California jobs which seems pretty positive
and you could say that it's related to the housing market.

not report I meant to say accept.

Does he accept positive housing market news?

I saw that article too. Weird. More jobs added in one month than in almost the entire previous year - by definition an outlier for the historical trend. It is hard to buy this as a new trend purely on face value. And mixed economic indicators released over the past few months also don't support the latter possibility. What's really going on?

It may be due to some government policies. It seems like just about every policy these is designed to stimulate hiring.

contrary to popular belief government stimulus does work. The surge in hiring generates spending which creates more hiring.

Nomograph says

an outlier

Thanks, I forgot that one.

Revision:

Don’t worry. The permabears will say that the stats are doctored, or that only illegals are being hired, or that the hiring is unsustainable, or only seasonal, or an outlier, or not “real”, ad nauseum.

See step 1. You seem to be sending a "NO" signal for that branchpoint.

Patrick parses news stories that he believes are pertinent. So far as whether they're positive or negative, it's in the eye of the beholder.

Unfortunately, a handful of the beholders have held the forum hostage - but their efforts to convert people to their thought processes has accomplished the opposite. Obama 2012!

I hear from various fascists that businesses are fleeing like Okies from the Dust Bowl. That the tax structure must be cut to ribbons or just around the corner we'll be living Mad Max. Zounds, next thing I know I'll hear that the planned Kalifornia Bankruptcy Fire Sale has been cancelled. This will be very disheartening for the many people back East who ask me when California will get the disaster they have waited SO long for.

I'm short real estate (ie a renter), so most of what I read on Patrick is positive and optimistic. But I am on the fence about buying at this point, that is, I'm not at all convinced that prices (monthly cost is going lower), but I do feel that the basis that I get in at could easily be going lower.

Strangely, after a year or two or following Patrick regularly, I got to where I pay almost more attention to the misc forum than I do the links (although he still gets some great ones on a regular basis.
