The committee has resolved that, for the city with the Russian name of Калининград (Kaliningrad), the Polish name Królewiec is exclusively recommended and it is not recommended to use the name Kaliningrad in Polish,” announced KSNG yesterday. It added that Kaliningrad Oblast, the Russian province in which the city of Kaliningrad is located, should be referred to in Polish as Królewiec Province (obwód królewiecki).
I wonder what Poles see in near future?
Kudos to the geopolitical “genius” Putler the Great.
Maybe its a bonus territory for Poland after Ukraine is partitioned. I read somewhere that Russia wanted to sell it to the surrounding countries, but that nobody wanted to buy it from them.
My paternal grandmother... Lots of Polish family of mine immigrated to the Port Aransas/Aransas Pass/Ingleside area of Texas ~100 years ago. (Parents were the immigrants actually so her brothers and sisters)
I understand they lived in San Antonio and did quite well up until the Great Depression where they moved to S. Texas. The Great Depression didn't really have much of an affect on that rural area. They bought shrimp boats, small ports etc., and picked cotton.
I still see lots of signs with my last name on them (non-Polish side) when I drive around down there. Lots of Irish on the other side.
