Who knew Thyme could be so medicinal and therapeutic?
For years, I've suffered with intermittent bouts of severe respiratory ailments that typically last over 1 month. I'm having one of these bouts right now that started back in early January.
I'm going to try this and will post the results.
Thanks again.
PS: I have had some relief with Loquat syrup from Planetary Herbals available on Amazon.
I get shallow breathing from stress and a deviated septum. I have been using Afrin for about 30 years. Sometimes my sinuses start aching, and even my back jaw starts hurting. Also I feel short of breath and irregular heart beat. Last week I had a head cold and over did the Afrin, I was squirting 12 hour relief up my nose every 3 hours. When I alternate to a Neti Pot or my Sinuses manage to stay clear for a period of time. Those issues clear up.
I tried this a few days ago, and it seems to work. I had some chores to do around the house today, and couldn't get motivated. I brewed up this tea, and got me energized and going to get it done.
If can, deep breathing. Fully inhale thru nose for 4-5 seconds. Hold it and count to seven. Controlled release thru mouth on a count to eight. Putting the tongue behind the teeth helps control. Settle down. Do it a couple more times and live on.
Afrin addict myself. Made the choice years ago. My clogged sinuses were also giving me shortness of breath and heart palpitations. A friend doctor basically told me to choose the lesser of two evils, bad heart due to breathing problems or Afrin addiction and less heart problems. There was one other option, experimental laser surgery in the sinuses, no thank you.
No palpitations or shortness of breath if I can breathe properly. Exercise helps me use less Afrin throughout the day.
As a long term supplement/medication guaifenesin (orig. from the guaiac tree) can be considered to lessen dependence on oxymetazoline hcl (afrin) and/or pseudoephedrine.
