Does it seem like an excessive number of young people, especially celebrities, are dying in recent months? Or has it always been this way?

Always been this way. Likely drugs, as usual. Addiction is a strange equalizer, and celebrity children with all of their entitlements, money, fame and precocious fast lifestyle are generally poor prognosis to survive.

In the day, Beverly Hills High had large numbers dead before 25 because of.

Probably right. A good example was Bunker Spreckels, an odd name but heir to the Spreckels sugar fortune and step-son of Clark Gable. It wasn't enough, though, so again at the magic age of 27 he offed himself with a drug overdose. Also a good example of the third generation gone to waste.

Basically every musician I listened to in the 90s is dead from suicide or OD, which might as well be suicide.

Are you Hillary Clinton?

It is odd but most musicians who O.D. do so at 27.
I don't have any statistical proof - just seems that way.

I think it's generally the age for everyone famous. By 27 you're either happy and successful (success doesn't mean fame/money) or you're completely miserable. Notoriety and fame ='s pressure. Some people can't handle it. Is half the cast of that recent shit show Glee dead now or something? They were all young.

It does not matter if you are surrounded by money, fame, glamour etc. if you have driven your body and mind with drugs to the point that the pleasure machines are entirely exhausted and you are functionally insane and feel terrible all the time. They have to take drugs to get up in the morning or to feel anything at all except depression, and are in a vicious cycle of feeling bad from withdrawal and then feeling bad from their drug use.

The idea that you would have to go through tortuous withdrawal and then years of sobriety just to feel vaguely normal again is too much. They went through their biological bank accounts for a few years of grandiosity, and would rather die than endure the pain of slow recovery and being just 'normal' rather than extra special. The entitlement winds up killing them very effectively. The toxicity of fame and money on scions is pretty well documented.

Priscilla is still alive and not one mention of her in any report I read

A relative grew up wealthy. Not crazy, but upper middle class and eventually they did better than that.

He had to work at a fast food restaurant starting in his mid teens. And no car. He took a bus until another family member gave him an older car.

He wasn’t without his troubles, but he is a very good family man today. Not to get too into it but he has used his position in life to help others who have no where else to turn. He has made sacrifices the majority dont, and certainly far more so than most of the bleating hypocrites on the left.

Boredom and lack of lives goals really hurt these very priveledged people. A good example of how to raise kids in these situations goes to Gene Simmons. Never hear negative stuff about the kids, both attended college, simmons made a big deal about not buying the son a car very early and when he did it was a nice enough car but nothing extravagant despite being worth hundreds of millions.

It’s really an micro view of the damage that simply handing people things does. Socialism is a failed political system. Giving away stuff crushes goals, crushes ambition, and obliterates self worth.

+1,000. People are designed to set and achieve goals. The happiest are those that once they reach (or miss) a goal, they set another. The saddest are the lazy who just lay around fighting boredom. One example is the Apollo astronauts. Once you have walked on the moon, what can top that? Some became alcoholics, while one followed on with his life by becoming a Senator.

I was broke and in a lot of debit. In a ton of pain from ripping up my back playing sports and ill from undiagnosed non-classic-CF. Plus I'd just moved across the country to sillycon valley in order to avoid the mountain cedar in TX so left all my friends behind.

Motivated me to be successful! I think happiness comes from within and I've always been lucky in that regard. Probably from interactions with such a great family.

In my experience, age 27 seems to be the age where people hit their maximum substance abuse limit. They usually trend down after that. Some push it too far and OD.

I remember Johnny Carson saying "Out of 100 people, 99 can handle failure. Maybe 1 can handle success."
