Walmart stores across the U.S. are grappling with an uptick in shoplifting that could lead to higher prices and closed stores if the problem persists, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said Tuesday.

“Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

“We’ve got safety measures, security measures that we’ve put in place by store location. I think local law enforcement being staffed and being a good partner is part of that equation, and that’s normally how we approach it,” McMillon said.

Walmart isn’t the only big-box retailer dealing with an uptick in theft. Last month, Target Chief Financial Officer Michael Fiddelke said shoplifting has jumped about 50% year over and year, leading to more than $400 million in losses in this fiscal year alone.

A girl I know in Florida and her friends shoplift if they feel they really "need" something and don't have the money.
"Always bet on black".

I'd love for them to break that down by state or locality.

The Waltons are worth about $62 billion. I'm sure they worked hard for it.

When Walmart wanted to expand into Mexico, they bribed some Mexican officials to make it happen. Some of the Waltons themselves were in on it. During the time they were being investigated by the FBI, Walmart decided to hire Hilary Clinton as a board director. The FBI investigation suddenly didn't go anywhere and the statute of limitations ran out. Shocking I know.

Tough to say who the criminals are I guess.

Always bet on the House.

They all are.

If you think Trump didn't bribe officials, guess what? He admitted he did, on a debate stage. You have to work with the mafia when you're a large business.

Trump is a developer in NYC and Las Vegas, of COURSE he's worked with the mob and bribed officials.

In Arizona, our politicians give Walmart tax breaks to develop their Supercenters.

Couldn't they just take the bribes and leave my tax money out of it?

They take bribes.

What they are doing is giving them tax incentives, and Walmart passes back some of that money to them as bribes. Why else would politicians give tax incentives?

Mexican politicians didn't have to give tax breaks. Maybe we can outsource our politicians.

Back in the late 1990s or very early 2000s Walmart opened a new store in Oakland on the S.F. Bay Side of 880. Within a year it was closed due to the massive amounts of internal theft by employees, not the shoppers.

Blame the thefts on white liberals like students at nearby universities like UC Berkeley.

The store closed due to excessive "shrinkage" that was occurring during non operating hours.

White liberals and other students from U.S. Berkeley prefer Ikea in Emeryville.

Yes, I was being sarcastic by making white liberals as the scapegoat for organized theft rings stealing from Walmart, Target, etc.

How did Walmart not know that this was going to happen????

In the 80s a friend of mine was head of security at a Zodys store. Remember that one (Zodys, when every penny counts). The chain that Pia Zadora owned. Most are saying Pia Who?

Well, my friend was the biggest thief in the place.

I know someone whose wife worked for 'security' in a large, new Walmart in their area. Both the husband and his wife are 'proud' liberals. This is only some of what
the husband told me:

The store where his wife worked was located in a predominately white area. Blacks, traveling from a nearby urban area, made up the majority of customers. Increasingly,
the store was pressured into hiring more blacks in order to reflect the high percentage of black customers. Many of the blacks that were hired as cashiers were caught by security for severely undercharging customers. These prearranged customers (i.e., friends, family, fellow thieves, etc.) would go through the checkout with large, expensive orders but the cashier would only ring up a small fraction of the order. When caught by security, the cashier would typically be fired (not arrested), only to be replaced by another cashier of the same ilk and the process would repeat over and over again.

Also, 'customers' would frequently attempt to walk out the front door with big ticket items while refusing to produce a receipt. Management had a policy to 'let them go' ... along with the merchandise! Confrontations with 'customers' that did not produce a receipt were strictly forbidden.

In the first year of operation, this Walmart lost over $1 million due entirely to theft. The next year, the losses more than doubled.

The line between a civil society and one of chaos is becoming thinner and thinner. The above is only one small example of a trend that appears in a multitude of areas.
Elites, such as George Soros, are encouraging this trend into chaos through a variety of means. Their goal?

Once things get completely out of control, they will step in with their totaltitarian 'solution' which the people will willingly fall for.

Its all by design as per Cloward Piven Strategy so the masses get fooled into begging for more Democrat Party policies. We are seeing it play out with an open border, inflation, rampant thefts at Walmart, Target, etc.

Meanwhile, at least the mainstream media is not lying about Biden's low popularity rating despite Biden being credited for a good midterm election: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-approval-views-of-economy-steady-sour-ap-norc-poll/ar-AA152nEX

Pia was hot in her day. Very tiny though, one could grab her by one hand and use her like a fleshlight.

Stores are afraid of having employees confront these 'Joggers'. Look what happened at a Home Depot. No doubt the family will be claiming that Tyrese or D'antwon dindu nuffins.

To be fair, large corporations do run the US government for their own profit. Pfizer is a good example.

So we really don't have a clear distinction between public and private sector anymore.

I'm old enough to remember the civil rights movement and the whole Martin Luther King stuff.

I'm certain that today it's "us against them."

An entire generation of black kids heard the Obama bullshit blaming all of their problems on whitey.

McDonald's, Walmart and others are moving to robot cashiers for a reason. The robots aren't interested in stealing.

This self-serve check out does enable theft. however. Some folks just "forget" to scan an item or two, and others scan but never inset a credit card. At my local Walmart Neighborhood Market, no one checks receipts at the door, and I have come up on a station that already had items scanned from the previous shopper who just bagged and walked out without paying.
