From your article:
The nearly 17-million member, Utah-based faith said in a statement that church doctrine would continue to consider same-sex relationships to be against God’s commandments.

Disney’s ‘Strange World’ to Lose $100 Million in Theatrical Run
Since “Strange World” cost $180 million to produce and tens of millions more in global marketing and distribution fees, the film needs to gross roughly $360 million to break even, sources say.
And keep in mind: those levels were unattainable for “Lightyear” (which ended its theatrical run with $226 million worldwide) and “Encanto” (which ended its theatrical run with $256 million worldwide), despite those films notching bigger opening weekends. Rival studios believe “Strange World” will be lucky to hit $45 million by the end of its domestic run. By comparison, “Encanto” earned $96 million in North America while “Lightyear” generated $118 million in the states.
“This is a weak opening by Disney animation standards,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “At a cost of $180 million, plus marketing expenses, the film will finish in the red, even with good ancillary income.”
Overseas grosses may not provide much of a lifeline. “Strange World” was similarly jilted at the international box office with $9.2 million from 43 markets.

So I didn't let my kids watch Lightyear after seeing the bullshit around lesbians having a kid. My daughter wanted to watch Strange World, and I had not taken the time to read about it, so we got caught in the theater. It was awkward, but we stayed as they didn't show the teens even holding hands, just discussed the boy having a crush on another guy. The problem is this is an animated movie targeting kids. Needless to say, we won't be going to ANY more Disney movies without a thorough review, which I should have known already after Lightyear.

Went to Disneyland the other week. At the end of the Christmas parade you have Santa of course. The thing that bugged me, he said "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas. Which I did hear somewhere else in the park, so why the fuck not say it in the parade. My older daughter exclaims to me after he passes "Santa's black!?". I couldn't really see, and he didn't sound black, so I hadn't noticed, but when she said it I did. Then in the movie previews the other day, everyone was black, then black Arial in the Mermaid reboot. What the fuck, are we in Africa? How would it look if Africa or Jamaica had white movies and commercials everywhere?

Disney’s ‘Strange World’ Plummets 60% In Its Second Weekend
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Strange World crashed nearly 60% in its second weekend, earning an estimated $4.9 million. It did so while screening in more theaters – 4,174 – than any other film in North American theaters, drawing just $1,178 per screen.
The dismal second weekend follows a disastrous Thanksgiving holiday launch, in which the film failed to reach its already tepid box office projections and ended up with a ‘B’ from the market research film Cinemascore, which is unheard of for a Disney film. Strange World’s total stands at $25.5M, and it is currently on pace to become the lowest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios film since 2011’s Winnie the Pooh, which was the studio’s last hand-drawn animated feature. The difference was that Winnie the Pooh had a budget of around $30M; the budget of Strange World has been reported by Hollywood trades to be anywhere between $135-180M.

In Mexican soap operas seems like nearly everybody is white in that.

Television and film is just propaganda now. It's product on top of that, just don't consume it.

Iger is going to need at least 12 to 18 months to start to turn things around. Disney went on a "go Woke, go broke" bonanza. Doesn't help Iger took over as Disney CEO during a major recession, or just at the beginning on one.

Strange World failed not because it was "woke" really, it's just that it was genetic, predictable, and sucked. That's what reviewers are saying anyhow.

Similar to when we were being told that the reason that Ghostbusters 2016 didn't do well was because it was an all female cast. It failed because it just kind of sucked. It was all ad-libbed, juvenile comedy.

I don't consume modern media much, but in the rare times I catch it, it's just bad. The writers are below average. Basically today, Star Trek Strange New Worlds is just a bunch of nonsense strung together to get to the next special effect sequence for example. As if in 2022, special effects are even important today.

Okay. However, the main character of this movie was in-your-face gay. Disney made it a point that its lead character is gay.

Disney's movie Lightyear cost $200 million and they only have grossed about $220 million since its June 2022 release. Disney is going to be in a major financial hole in 2023 given its line up of movie disasters.

Yeah, I know - that didn't help it, but the real problem is that the film, sucked. It's heavy handed in THE MESSAGE (pending environmental disaster because of energy use), it's predictable, and it's dull - at least according to reviews. I have no intention of actually seeing it, but I rather like to laugh about it.

Yeah as far as Marvel Comics being owned by Disney. They are making at least $300 million profit with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Panther:_Wakanda_Forever

Not sure Marvel will make enough profit for Disney cinema to break even in 2022 given the disasters such as with movies Lightyear and Strange World.

Remember that 5 trillion dollar "covid relief" bill in 2020?

There's 330 million Americans. The max any one American could receive was $1,200. $1,200 * 330 million = $396,000 million or 396 billion or 0.396 trillion or a little less than $0.5 trillion.

5 trillion - 0.5 trillion = 4.5 trillion that didn't go to people...

Where do you think that money went, and why do these companies keep doing dumb shit that pushes woke propaganda which ALSO drives away people that would normally purchase their PRODUCTS?

Pretty certain the pedophile groomers at Dizney will be just fine..

Strange World is looking like a $100M loss, and that's going by the bullshit accounting. Probably more.

It's also not just that the movies do "Okay", some of them have to do incredible once the gimmick accounting is gone. Merchandising, as Yogurt the Schwartz Master said, is King. Disney projected at least a billion they didn't make on Merch for the last Star Wars movie.

Isn't it kind of pathetic that little kids are still doing Star Wars? Star Wars came out when I was 6 years old in 1977.

It's kind of like if I was playing with Commando Cody toys at that age, but that was only 1952. That was only 25 years old when I was 6. Star Wars is now 45 years old. It's more like Buck Rogers, which first appeared in 1929, the ORIGINAL Buck Rogers. The radio serials came out in 1932.

Star Wars is SO OOOOOOOLD. It's as old as Buck Rogers was to me as a kid, really. The television series came out in 1950. The television series was only 27 years old when Star Wars came out. Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, the television show, came out in 1979 - it was 50 YEARS old by then.

Absolutely. Copyright should be limited to 20 years only, just like patents.

What we have now is spectacular proof that DC is corrupt, since Mickey Mouse got copyright protection extended every time it was about to expire.

https://notthebee.com/article/disney-pulls-simpsons-episode-where-lisa-mentions-chinese-forced-labor-camps

Disney pulls "Simpsons" episode that mentions Chinese forced labor camps

Disney, ever eager to avoid any confrontation with the Chinese Communist government, cut an episode of The Simpsons from Disney Plus streaming platform in Hong Kong that referenced "forced labor camps" in China.

The episode, titled "One Angry Lisa," aired in October 2022 and showed the instructor of Marge Simpson's virtual bike class state, "Behold the wonders of China. Bitcoin mines, forced labor camps where children make smartphones." Another episode of the show that broadcast in 2005 mentioned the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre and the Chinese government's efforts to suppress knowledge of it; it was cut in 2021.

Yes, the old Uighur concentration camps conspiracy theory.

Except it's not a conspiracy theory.
Here, I found a left-wing article to explain:

These camps are much more like prisons than so-called boarding schools. A 2018 report by Agence France-Presse described camps in which thousands of guards carry spiked clubs, tear gas, and stun guns to surveil detainees, who are held in buildings surrounded by razor wire and infrared cameras. AFP journalists also reviewed public documents showing that government agencies overseeing the camps purchased 2,768 police batons, 550 electric cattle prods, 1,367 pairs of handcuffs, and 2,792 cans of pepper spray.

So let's face it: Disney is out here working their magic in China to make sure nobody is exposed to the truth — even when it comes in the form of a Simpsons joke.

Anything that goes against the Chinese Communist Party is just not what Disney is about. They're about money, and when you call out the CCP you don't make money in the Chinese market.

Laying off 7000 people means to me that they have too many people hanging around in offices somewhere.
I have been asked by 3 females to take them (separately of course) to Disneyworld; I refused.
The latest request was from Riviera Beach, FL and we would go along with her family; this would be a nightmare in so many ways I can't even begin to contemplate it.

Nelson Peltz got his way

The big time turnaround King and Trump donor is demanded a seat on the board of Disney, says Iger is the reason Disney is where it is now. Over the past couple of months, he put immense pressure on the board and wrested concessions from Iger in return for withdrawing his campaign for a Board Seat.

Last time at Dinny Lan was 30 years ago. I was really tired and didn't enjoy it. They gave me the survey as I left the park. I was yelling and screaming as I read the questions.

Every single question hinted at if we raise our prices will you still come to the park and pay.

I was yelling they need to change that sign to "The Greediest. Place on Earth"

Never been back nor will I go. I'll get a season pass to Knotts Berry Farm before those Dinnny Assholes! Hope they go BROKE!

Disney getting rid of deadweight like the blue hairs working non-value added jobs is a step in the right direction.

Seems like Amazon, Google, and Facebook already are doing the same.

Higher interest rates means no more easy money, and going on hiring binges to hire more managers to manage the managers.

I remember back in the early 1990s hearing about how some of the rank in file at Disney, such as the creative types like animators, were gay.

They had gay pride day at Disney World from what I recall back in the late 1990s where a large amount of visitors wore gay pride shirts.

It was a determined progression on their part, and now they control the content at Disney.

This resulted in Disney produced stale Woke shit and once in a while they may produce something that is noteworthy and very profitable like Frozen.

But in their collective mind, this is perfectly acceptable as its all about ESG or Woke objectives, whereas profitability is not a priority.
