Looks like I'm never taking a cruise again...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (ABC) — Royal Caribbean just revealed what a cruise from Florida in July will look like.

As we’ve been reporting, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is still fighting with the CDC over vaccine mandates, threatening cruise lines that require vaccines with a $5,000 fine per passenger starting July 1.

Royal now plans to have different requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated guests.

Unvaccinated guests 16 and up will have to pay $136/person for on-board testing.
Some events and venues will be restricted to vaccinated guests only.
Face masks will be required for ALL passengers indoors unless you’re in a vaccinated-only event.
Unvaccinated guests will not be able to make reservations in advance for the Main Dining Room — Royal will have specific times when they can dine.
Some shows will be for vaccinated guests only. The first U.S. cruise is just about a week away on June 26 — the Celebrity Edge. This cruise will be fully vaccinated because it is happening before the Governor’s law kicks in.

The cruise line released the following guidelines:

"At check-in, guests will be asked to provide documentation of their vaccination, such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card. Those who are 16 and older and do not have or are unable to provide documentation will be considered unvaccinated. Our unvaccinated guests must undergo additional COVID-19 testing at their own expense, and follow the health protocols described below, which are based on guidance from the CDC. If you do not wish to undergo or pay for additional testing, or adhere to these health and safety protocols, we are happy to provide you with a refund. We believe that in the coming months, restrictions and requirements will be more accommodating as public health circumstances evolve."

Pre-Cruise
Unvaccinated guests 16 years of age and older will need to undergo an RT-PCR test administered by an accredited laboratory of the guest’s choice, and taken within three days of sailing. We will require documentation of a negative result for this test prior to embarkation. All costs for this test are the unvaccinated guest’s responsibility.

At the Terminal
Unvaccinated guests 2 years of age and older are required to take an RT-PCR test when checking in at the terminal, which will be administered by one of our testing vendors. Registration details will be sent via email in advance.

Prior to Disembarking
While onboard, unvaccinated guests 2 years of age and older will be required to undergo antigen testing within 24 hours of disembarking at the end of the voyage. This test will be conducted the day before the cruise ends by one of our testing vendors. Guests will be notified onboard about how to register for this test."

However, I'm thinking the covid will be around for many years, so might as well get the vaccine and be done with it.

So you think one (two) jab(s) and your passport will never expire? Really?

Who else thinks the experimental biologic agent cures the cold?

Since I'm already 50 years old, I'm not so worried about the long-term effects of the vaccines. However, I'm thinking the covid will be around for many years, so might as well get the vaccine and be done with it. If I were significantly younger, then I'd strongly consider the alternatives.

I'm 50. I have another 20 maybe 30 years left of useful ability.

No goddamned way am I getting that vaccination.

I want to live long enough to see the collapse and I want to be around, to be a thorn in the side of the assholes that caused it.

Hmm. Yeah, all good points above.

For the intellectually curious:

Moderna and J&J claim their versions of the jab will inoculate against the new "Delta" variant. Add that to the hype about how those who avoided the "vaccine" and saw no problems whatsoever will have lots to worry about with this highly contagious and very deadly Delta variant.

Question is, how could the pharma boys build a predictive jab that would inoculate against strains not in existence? If the Delta variant was that similar to the original Covid 19, then those who had Covid would already be immune to Delta. Maybe they found some sorcerer to create an inoculation against all similar viruses. In that case, no inoculated person would catch a cold from now on either.

It's all bullshit. They lie through their teeth.

No one wants the vax anymore and all their incentivizing isn't working. Not even a little bit.

I'm still up on NCLH and playing with house money. I want to believe cruising will be back, but I won't be going on one for the foreseeable future. Too hard with 3 kids and I have no interest in being handcuffed and paying more without having a vaccine we don't have evidence works nor stops the spread. Looked up rate recently for a family suite or two connecting rooms and we'd be looking at $6-10k. To live in a dorm room.

Maybe once the kids are out. And even then there are so many land based all inclusive's I can go to where all costs are up front are handled and 3-4 hours from Chicago via air. You just go, drink, swim and the hospitality is better than a cruise and the rooms are substantially better than cruising. I'm up 10% right now on the house money, so not a bad return. Double plus the 10% (I will generally sell on the way up slowly with my funny money account). I think I'm gonna sell it all. Not a prediction of future price FYI. It has run its course for me is all.

Hey Wookie - what are some of the best all inclusives? I have taken several cruises but kinda don't like the tiny rooms and generally mediocre food.

I’m a huge fan of Excellence group AI’s. Mexico, Dominican and Jamaica. We’ve done Rivera Maya and Playa Mujeres in Mexico. Adult only, though they have the Finest brand which should be just as good if you have little shits for a family trip. Kids club is lame I guess for kids 8-10 plus or so I’ve heard.

The adults only ones have been amazing. You will have frequent “fun.” I prefer the rooftop rooms with plunge pool for privacy. We’ve slept on the rooftop multiple times.

Food our last time down was still solid, but Covid I think hurt it a bit staff wise. Wasn’t as good as our first visit but still above average than the other 2-3 AI’s we’ve visited. Kind of new to the game, but we travel a ton domestically and in the Caribbean and the food is good.

Pay extra for a private transfer anywhere. Cancun use Kalido 100%. Order booze when checking out. Wife and I are bombed when we get to the resort and take a nap when our room is ready. Do club level. Use the club. Especially if you like top shelf booze, pour your own. Was there with a broken heel and got two mimosas and the club bar tender at 8am took them with me to the room. Service is stellar.

I know other resorts can do that, but we’ve done Dreams and some other random one. Excellence has been by far a top 3 adult only vacation. You’ll also like the last two channels on the tv☺️

Bidet just extended mask mandates on planes until January.

Me and missus are planning to go to Savannah for a week around New Year. Were planning on flying, but I'm not gonna wear face diaper unless I absolutely need to. So, we will drive and goodbye $$$ to airlines.

Depending on the flight crew, you can get away with not wearing them from my experience. Wear them onboard, wear a hat and neck pillow and take it off once in your seat. Only been bitched at once or twice out of 8-10 flights and take it back off as she walks away. Kids don't wear them either. Or ask for water frequently and occasionally sip it. They can't force you to stop drinking water.

We're hitting up Ft. Myers, St. Thomas, USVI and Mexico between now and January. I believe you're in TX from past comments. You're gonna waste two full ass days in a car. Not sure how far from an airport you are, but you're looking at 5 hours versus 17+ with piss and food stops if you're from around Austin. I HATE masks, but go grab a drink in airport as well. Water, beer, wine, whatever and no one will care in the airport if you don't have a mask on.

No need to know if you have kids or that, but if it's just you and a spouse, driving will be more expensive in my opinion from TX. Cheaper if you have kids though. I know the south has cheap gas, but I value time and enjoyment a lot. Sitting behind the wheel of a car for the only hours you're awake for 2 days would suck. Don't let the maskers and vaxxers mess with your head about air travel.

If you're courteous and nice about putting the mask back on, you'll be fine. In all seriousness just get drunk pre-flight or take an edible and sleep on the flight. I usually sleep and have only been awaken once time for being maskless.

Only concern is if there's a direct flight to Savahnnah/Hilton Head from your location. Then you're looking at driving to the airport early, 2 hour flight, maybe a layover, and a 2 hour drive with rental car to final destination if you arrive at ATL, which will be the cheapest flight for sure. Still, depending where you are, you're looking at 14 hours probably minimum in the car and 8 or less for sure via air. Get to your room, house, or whatever right at checkin and enjoy instead of rolling in at 10-11pm.

CDC Stops Reporting COVID-19 Levels for Cruise Ships, Says Companies Can Handle Their Own Rules

Lol, might be related to the fact that the dangerous vaxx has been proven utterly ineffective over and over by fully jabbed passengers getting sick in large numbers on cruise ships.

Love/hate relationship with cruising. Love getting to see new locations. It's what got us hooked on the Caribbean on our 6-7 cruises. As long as there are restrictions with vaccines to board, I'm out indefinitely. It really isn't fun with kids either. Might be now that they're older and more independent, but I'm not getting vaccinated and my kids aren't either.

I think Puerto Rico is going to be our next place to explore land based. Maybe spring break. We've been ~5 times, but it's usually just been a night or two before going somewhere else. I want to explore the more southern leeward islands. Was supposed to for spring break in 2020, but fucking covid hit. We were going to hit 6 new islands, which would have put us at close to 50-60% of hitting the named countries/territories in the leeward. I still have all our bookings saved. Depressing when I look at them. Would have been a blast, but a flu shut down the world. I need to let go of the past. It's hard though.

Have you seen their average clientele lately?

Expect lots of Shenanay grabbing Nicole, by the damn hair, while Brad and Lisa offer discount coupons to let her go.

Vax mandates everywhere caused it. Not just the US. If you cannot get into a country without a vaccine, that's pretty tricky as crew on ship. It's caused problems everywhere. You can be at 20 locations/ports, but if one doesn't allow unvaccinated, they can't hire you.

Restrictions are pretty much 100% gone here. Side gig with the school district. I was surprised they didn't want me vaccinated. I have full access to 3 buildings and could sneeze on someone. How the F did we get here....
