I'm completely open. Just please, no San Francisco. I can smell that city. I'm from NY (upstate) and whenever I went to NYC, I could smell that fucking sewer, no matter where I was. That's San Francisco today.
San Jose isn't so bad, I don't know that area very well, but I know there's lots of places there. Tied House is gone. That's very south, but Bart, Amtrak and Caltrain converge there.
Anything but yuppie, mostly older blue collar workers and people that grew up here. Good people. I love dive bars. People are adult enough to have a conversation and share their experience. Yuppies, they just stick to their own group, no conversation.
I hate yuppies. If there was a transporter beam and it didn't matter where the location was, I'd recommend this place:
Why? Who gives a shit? At least yuppies don't steal, commit violent crimes or shit into the streets. I'm all for yuppies when it makes the place cleaner

They are superficial thinkers. When people talk about "useless eaters", what the useless eaters really are, are yuppies, not the blue collar. I can have a more involved and interesting discussion with a mechanic, a plumber, or electrician than I can with a PhD in electrical engineering. It's a mistake to think they aren't educated, they were just the first to realize they were being brainwashed and got fed up with it.
They aren't cut off from other people to the extent we eggheads are. They have a network of communication. For example, want to get out of a ticket? Know the NAME of the Chief of Police in wherever you got pulled over and ask the officer "Would it make a difference if I know X?". You're a bit older than I am, but I bet you never knew that trick, but I do, because I know plenty of blue collar workers.
Don't make a threat, just ask. And if the answer is "no, it doesn't matter a damned bit" - oh well, you're no worse off.

You don't need to talk to them you talk to the people from patnet, also yuppies is just another label. As long as they leave you alone...
There's a Drake's Brewery in Oakland I think is nice
COVID POLICY UPDATE
Due to the spread of the Omicron Variant, Drakes Dealership now requires Proof of Full Vaccination and a current ID (school IDs accepted) for anyone 12 years of age or older to enter our Beer Garden and indoor spaces as of February 1st.
So that's a "Fuck no, and I will never set foot in it" from me. Probably was a nice place.
Seriously? I thought there are no retarded businesses left requiring the jab. Even in SF it's pretty much gone. Let's find another one in Oakland or Alameda. Like speisekammer in Alameda

Well, I just checked Plank, they "require proof of vaccination of all people that will be inside the building", but there's a beer garden outside - it's run next to Jack London Square:

But as my feeling is, fuck all of Oakland. Seems to be an area mandate. Could we possibly meet at a park or something? It's a HUGE imposition on @Patrick, but we could meet at his place again if he's willing, and he shouldn't feel at all obligated to host us, but if he does, I will bring beer, and I'll even buy pizza this time, and by pizza, I mean food from Amici's not that shit that the DNC appears to be into.
That's if anybody actually liked Amici's - it's NY pizza.
If we meet at Patrick's - I'll bring two growlers - anybody want to have the bottles when they are empty? If we meet at Patrick's I also demand to pay for the pizzas. I'm in a fuck the world mode. A growler is basically a pitcher of beer. They are reusable.
Not certain what they have on tap at the moment, but the Ah Limin is on tap and I think most people liked what they were able to get before I drank it.
Little hard to stagger to from Jack London Square also I just checked two places in Oakland and they both require proof of vaccination. I'd jerk off with 50 grit sandpaper while using a straight razor for a dildo up my ass before I put up with that.
I'll suggest this place again which is in Sunnyvale - this is where I'd pick up the growlers.
This is super unfairly convenient for me though - but I just called, no vaccination policy. If the food sucks there (I have no idea how it is now) there's the rest of the street to wander on. It's right next to the Caltrain station. The locale isn't as nice as any of the other places that were mentioned previously, but it's a fairly nice area.
You can party without me if necessary. A long trip like that has to be weighed thoroughly. I like Patrick's place but al currently slammed with work, trading, baby and more

I'm a bit overbooked until the end of May myself. Onvacation says
Sounds good to me. Send me a reminder notice in late spring if I forget.
Summer starts June 21. Maybe put it off till early June?
Martinez seems accessible to the regulars @Patrick @ceffer @RichWicks The train ride along San Pablo Bay and then the southern shore of the Carquinez Strait is cool. @mell It's a nice drive down 29 to 12 and then 680 to Martinez
I know a cool place where we could enjoy some micro brew and food and just hang out for an hour or two.
Invite only. I don't want exact time and place to be published. Afraid of ducks driving by or someone coming to my house.
Anyone else interested in going to a party to celebrate the mega-post that Patrick could vet as not dangerous? .
Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday July 28 through 31? The first weekend of August 4th through 7th?
Who's interested in a get together the next couple of weekends?
I haven't met BayArea, but he seems OK from his comments.
He's a total dick (that's a joke). I like that you said he "seems ok" though. His comments seem pretty straight forward, and doesn't get aggressive with others. BayArea is one of the users I'd be interested to meet.
I'd love to get out there. Need notice though as I'd have to fly obviously. Don't plan anything around me though. I'd need probably 30 day notice. I've only been to the Bay area twice and I was 18 or younger. So I really don't know the geography of the places you're talking about, though I could easily figure it out.
I've been wanting to do a solo trip with no real end goal. And not with friends or family. I've done it for a night here or there non-work related (Spokane, WA is fun solo), but I think it would be fun. I'm the main parent as my wife travels a lot, so I'd love to get a break from the kids so I don't go crazy.

No blue collar worker has ever virtue signaled to me.
They just assume I'm an egghead moron, and maybe I am to them. There's several different levels of intelligence.
So that's a "Fuck no, and I will never set foot in it" from me. Probably was a nice place.
Yep, FUCK THEM, I'm in 1000% agreement. I used to like that place, now I'm boycotting it for life.
Relying on 'penis intelligence' has never worked out well for me.

It's pretty far for @mell and @Onvacation but a little less far for @Ceffer
One good thing is that it's not a far walk from Palo Alto or Menlo Park Caltrain.

Maybe @richwicks @Onvacation and myself could share an Uber or Lyft from down here.

It's theoretically possible for @richwicks and myself to get to Martinez by Amtrak, and there seem to be a lot of brewpubs near that station.
It would take about 2 hours each way, but sitting on Amtrak is a lot more pleasant than sitting in a car.
@Ceffer would have the longest trip though.
Martinez is pretty cool. It was the place to go to during the pandemic as they close down the streets on the weekends and let people eat outside.
@patrick What did you think of Martinez?

I’m in pleasanton
Pleasanton a quick drive up 680 the other way from mell.
Can Patrick Vouch for you that you're not crazy?
I meant dangerous. We're all a little crazy at this point.
I've been interested in doing that train ride. I think any of those weekends are OK with me.

You in the Bay Area?
I think one person has put me on ignore during that time and I still can’t figure out why.
Work in tech, EE background, married with kids.
Rest assured, even if I vehemently disagree with you here, I'm pleasant drunk.
We meeting up or what? Did I miss out on anybody in this thread?
You know, San Jose might be a good central point to meet, it's at the end of the bay. San Jose isn't as horrible as it once was.
I'm taking time off, so I don't care really where it is, I can travel. I'm just throwing shit out there.
