My wife wanted to watch a BritBox British detective procedural with a gay detective hero. It's the usual shoehorned ethnic crap, too. Every time the detective is with his boyfriend, they have to have some kind of lavish gay smootch-o-rama. I told her two things I am not interested in is extended gay male kissing scenes and pointless lesbian drama. The lesbian stuff she doesn't like at all, but for some reason, the male gay smooching and tongue wrestling doesn't bother her. The gay detective is otherwise pretty sanitized in the effort to 'normalize' gay relations.

I told her to watch on her own time and her own dime.

She also watches some Jane Fonda comedy on Netflix in which two husbands decide they are gay and leave to live together, but somehow manage to live in a situation comedy world together.

Many people have been brainwashed and conditioned, that the television is their only pastime. They are unable to disconnect and find other interests. Like many of us, if not for Patrick.net and other like minded content we seek on the internet. We would have to get off our asses, and get outdoors more.
But most other people everything they do on the internet, can be done in few second increments, by looking down at their phone and checking a Social Network notification while they watch Netflix. They don't have anything to keep them occupied between smart phone notifications. And they don't care how low the quality of content has gone on Cable, OTA or Streaming viewing services. As it's just a screen to keep them occupied until the next notification.

I often ask people.

When they drone on about some Scumbag Character portrayed on the world's most popular Netflix, FOX, or HBO show.
They will drone on and on about the Breaking Bad scumbags, and Walking Dead, and the latest was the Squid Games. As they talk and try to fill me in on the goings on, I squirm not wanting to hear any of it. I'm no more interested in following those stories, as I am calling up my local Criminal Scumbag gang bang baller and asking how his day went.

I usually stop watching TV after a day or two when we are separated, but my wife is a media junkie and considers two hours a day in front of the tube together bonding time, so I have gone along with it forever. Outside of some of her soaps and chick flicks and situation comedies, we can usually find some common ground for watching, but she just has to watch some of that stuff herself.

If you ever get a chance to visit Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan, you should check out the U.S. Customs House.
