'Stop it': FDA warns people not to take veterinary drugs to treat Covid-19

Nicole Acevedo

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging people to stop taking veterinary drugs to treat or prevent Covid-19 after receiving multiple reports of patients who have been hospitalized after "self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses," according to the federal agency.

"You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y'all. Stop it," the FDA tweeted from its official account on Saturday, alongside a consumer update detailing why the drug can be unsafe for humans.

Ivermectin, which is not an anti-viral drug, is generally used to treat or prevent parasites in animals.

"These animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than" a human, the FDA update reads. "Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans."

Patients who overdose with ivermectin can experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, low blood pressure, allergic reactions, dizziness, problems with balance, seizures, coma and even death, according to the FDA.

The agency clarified that the FDA-approved ivermectin tablets meant to treat people with certain conditions caused by parasitic worms as well as topical formulations used for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea are different from the drug used on animals. Ivermectin tablets and topical formulations for humans have "very specific doses" that are significantly smaller than the doses meant for animals.

Moreover, "many inactive ingredients found in animal products aren’t evaluated for use in people," the FDA warned. "In some cases, we don’t know how those inactive ingredients will affect how ivermectin is absorbed in the human body."

The FDA stressed that no form of the ivermectin drug has been approved by the agency for use in treating or preventing Covid-19 in humans.

"However, some initial research is underway," the agency said, adding that "taking a drug for an unapproved use can be very dangerous. This is true of ivermectin, too."

The agency said it was forced to issue a warning in the consumption of ivermectin following "a lot of misinformation" around the drug.

"You may have heard that it’s okay to take large doses of ivermectin. That is wrong," the FDA consumer update reads. "Meanwhile, effective ways to limit the spread of Covid-19 continue to be to wear your mask, stay at least 6 feet from others who don’t live with you, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowds."

The FDA has also granted emergency use authorizations for three Covid-19 vaccines to prevent Covid-19 infections.

Covid-19 has claimed the lives of more than 630,000 people in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic in early 2020. Since then, more than 37.6 million cases of Covid-19 infections have been reported nationwide, according to NBC News' tally.

Ivermectin is on the WHO list of "essential medicines" for humans.

So much for Ivermectin being a "livestock medicine". It was a human medicine first and more than 4 billion doses have been given with essentially zero adverse affects in the proper dose.

It's one of the most prescribed drugs for human ever.

They awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015 I believe for the ivermectin discovers.

You'd think that the #1 research priority in a Pandemic would be to immediately review and test longstanding, common generic drugs for efficacy against the disease because there's a long history of their functionality and safety with all age groups, and they can be mass manufactured and deployed quickly.

Of course, that means no big bucks for Big Pharma.

I ordered from here, couple syringes. Just in case.
I might get a bad case of Covid someday, or someone who is a friend might need a dose.

Thanks @Booger !

This is excellent news, even if the article is full of bullshit like calling one of the most commonly prescribed human medicines a "horse de-wormer".

Here are the few bits that are not sucking Pfizer's cock for cash:

Jeffrey Smith, 51, came down with COVID-19 in early July and has been in the intensive care unit of a Butler County hospital for weeks. His wife, Julie Smith, asked in Butler County Common Pleas Court on Aug. 20 for an emergency order for the use of Ivermectin. ...

Judge Gregory Howard gave the go-ahead on Aug. 23 to Dr. Fred Wagshul's prescription of 30 milligrams of Ivermectin daily for three weeks, as requested by his wife. Court documents show Julie Smith is the guardian for her husband.

Wagshul is a Dayton, Ohio-area pulmonologist who is listed as a founder of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, a nonprofit that touts Ivermectin as both a preventative and treatment for COVID-19. The organization's “How To Get Ivermectin” section on its websites includes prices and locations of pharmacies that will supply it.
Julie Smith explored Ivermectin as an option for her husband's treatment on her own and connected with Wagshul. He prescribed the drug, and the hospital refused to administer it. ...

Julie Smith filed the lawsuit on behalf of her husband of 24 years. He tested positive for COVID-19 July 9, and was admitted to the ICU July 15 where he was put on the hospital's COVID-19 protocol of the antiviral drug Remdesivir along with plasma and steroids. On July 27, "after a period of relative stability," Jeffrey Smith's condition began to decline.

He was sedated and intubated and placed on a ventilator on Aug. 1 and later placed in a medically induced coma. "My husband is on death's doorstep; he has no other options," she wrote in an affidavit filed with her lawsuit, adding at another point that her husband's chances of survival had "dropped to less than 30%."

Julie Smith says her husband is a network engineer for Verizon. "He enjoys fishing, hiking and campaign with our family," she said in the affidavit. The Smiths live in Fairfield Township and have three children. "Family is his everything," Julie Smith said.

People, the shithead is back! The Great Anthony Fauci is telling you ... not to take Ivermectin

Tony says: "And it could potentially have toxicity, as you just mentioned, with people who have gone to poison control centers because they’ve taken the drug at a ridiculous dose and wind up getting sick," he explained. “There is no clinical evidence that indicates that this works."

Rin responds to Tony: "Hey dickweed, you've had your chance. Now, go back to your hole in Brooklyn and die of natural causes, because by law, I can't advocate anyone to take your life. Dude, you're useless and let's face it, you've made America's great NIH into the National Banana Republic Institute of Health, the N(BR)IH!"

The ''85 % sterilization'' comes from a report the study authors are referencing. Asika E.C. and Okhiai O. were coincidentally also among the authors of this study. The report, which I've been unable to find, is supposedly from 2002.

Even freaking Snopes is rating the ''85 % sterilization'' claim as unproven https://archive.is/oPjFE

The following is the protocol Drs. Fareed and Tyson have jointly developed as most effective for their COVID-19 patients:
Fareed/Tyson COVID-19 Treatment Protocol

Day 1 - HCQ 2 tabs twice a day
Zinc sulfate tab twice a day
(Azithromycin tab one per day or doxycycline cap twice a day)
Ivermectin 12 mg on day 1 only
Aspirin 325 mg

Days 2-5
HCQ tab 3 times a day
Zinc sulfate 3 times a day
(Azithromycin tab daily or doxycycline cap twice a day)
Aspirin 325 mg daily
Ivermectin 12 mg on day 3 if symptoms warrant
Prednisone 60 mg daily x 5-7 days or
Dexamethasone 4 mg bid if wheezing /SOB
Budesonide 0.5-1mg/2ml vía nebulizer bid
Vitamin D3 5000 iu daily
Pepcid 20 mg daily
Continue daily Aspirin 325 mg
Over the counter prevention:
Elemental Zinc 25 mg once a day
Vitamin D 4000 iu once a day
Vitamin C 1000 mg once a day
Quercetin 500 mg once a day
If Quercetin is unavailable, then use Epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) 400mg once a day

Dr. Fareed also included Dr. Zelenko’s (Twitter: @zev_dr) COVID-19 Prophylaxis Protocol:
Prophylaxis is an action taken to prevent or protect against a specified disease. Greek in origin, from
the word "phylax", meaning "to guard" and "watching."

This is where I disagree. Both Zelenko and others have confused the Quercetin DiHydrate from the more bioavailable one, Quercetin Phytosome.

By itself, the DiHydrate is not bioavailable and needs Pineapple enzyme Bromelain, Oil (like Fish, Olive, Flax Seed, Lecithin, Coconut), and other stuff to get it into the system. For that to happen, one needs 2000 to 5000 mg per day of the DiHydrate during an active infection or 1000 mg of the Phytosome type.

And then, a maint dose of 250 to 500 mg of the Phytosome once symptoms abate.

allimax.us

No a garlic extract isn't going to work because it's a mashup. For the isolated Allicin, one needs a process of creation by compressing the bulb and then, extracting the converted Allicin and placing it in a stable setting. The Allisure brand does that. The others don't.

Yes, but you can find cheaper ones on Amazon with the same Allisure trademark.
