I’m shipping my car to Florida.
I signed a contract to go after December 14.
There is a delay; the agent just texted me : “4,000 vehicles were shipped last week, and 7,000 are still waiting to be picked up. This is insane, some people are paying $6,000 and their cars aren’t getting picked up either!”
Broke people don’t pay 1-6 grand to ship their car; this is a middle class exodus of people who have some money.
I’m making a popular move evidently.
Edit: I don’t know where all of the cars are going to, just that they’re departing California.

I know white people have only tried that twice in the past few hundred years

Here's a couple more:

Turks and Armenians. But maybe you don't consider those whites.

Americans and Native Americans.

Americans and Native Americans no:

just_passing_through says
By mass there is more native American DNA in North America than there was 500 years ago.

That doesn't happen in genocide.

Yeah, Turks and Armenians and I think maybe some other groups in those areas, great point, I'd forgotten. White to me...

Payson are hot markets.

Payson is about an hour and half outside Phoenix. About 10 degrees cooler in the summer. Beautiful place for hiking.

Congrats on the move to FL. Good choice!

We just had a BAT (Bay Area Transplant) move into our very conservative gated community up in the NorCal foothills. Boy did he get a surprise. He wanted to put a pool, a big deck and some other shit on the brand-new house. Unfortunately, he ran into the buzz saw of our HOA committee who politely told him to go fuck himself. The lot was already too small, and the builders put it too close to the lot lines. The douchbag probably thought he could steamroller or pay off the locals. Eventually, he returned it to the builders (probably threatened them with misrepresentation litigation) but now he's gone. Good Riddance, I say.

Fuck these assholes who come into town and try to bend everyone else to their way of life. Californians seem to do this elsewhere like Austin, Portland and Boise. If they get power, the Blue Plague begins to spread. Locals have to rise up and say no.

Dude.....I personally know many ex-Californians and I've met many in other states. An easy way to met locals is to bring your dog to the dog park for a couple of hours. I just recently met a bunch of ex-Californians in AZ. They heavily bitched about the politics in CA. I understand people get upset at Californians moving in to your town and driving up RE prices (Those who own RE actually like it) but don't assume all of these ex-californians are libs.....many stupid libs love it here in CA and dont ever move. Many Californians that are fed up with the BS politics move to other states.

they bitch about it, come to Austin TX and vote like they did in CA. Consequence now is that Austin has become a shithole city due to transplants from CA

being selfish here....I wouldnt mind if libs move out of CA in droves but I dont see it....its like a disease here that spreads quickly and we have no vaccine for it.

Its quite the opposite, its the people CA needs that are leaving accelerating it's decline.

Well, I know a couple that moved to Nevada near Minden and they are extremely liberal. They are adjusting to the colder whether and not-so-great food. They left because "taxes are too high in CA and they are retiring", I then point out that they voted for all these insane policies and taxes in CA. He constantly bitched about not taking care of the homeless, wealthy should be taxed more, voted for every bond, etc... And they simply say "well, that was then". :)

But be assured - the disease will spread and TX will go blue in 4 years. Unless the Repub party finally goes full Trumpian - which has a good shot of attracting hard working small business lLantinos.

Yes - the more "conservative" Californians are leaving, but these are people still mostly left of center in most every other state. Just conservative by CA standards - which means they are more libertarian.

Thats what I first said.....everyone I know that left CA is conservative and fed up with the BS politics.

"Conservative" in CA is left of center in most other states. That is the problem. It is a gradual left-ward tilt any way you look at it. Real conservatives would have gotten out of CA long ago - or gone to the foothills/CV.

Doesnt matter to me if you are seen left of center as long as you vote for republicans. Those ex-Californians I refer to move because they want change and therefore vote with their feet. Makes little sense to vote for reps, move out of CA and then switch to voting for libtards.

I just think that most people are "actually" leaving for job opportunities. For every conservative I know who has left, there are 2 more who left because they themselves simply wrecked CA and now the only good opportunities are in red states. Think about what Oracle moving to TX is going to do. Or any other high tech that has created dev centers in red states. It would be interesting to get a study done on who has left and what % were truly rep vs dem, etc... Maybe there is something out there - just haven't searched for it yet.

I have spent 20+ years on/off in Atlanta a few weeks at a time just for business. There is no doubt that all the out of state tech hires that moved to GA for jobs made the city far more left.

Update to my first post:
They found a driver to pick up my car.
I noticed that the area code is San Antonio, Texas.
Maybe a bunch of cars are going to Texas.
Re: who leaves California
I know several 1. I’m leaving to avoid taxation; I’m not really working (tiny business) 2. Rich entrepreneur from Marin County who went to Texas to avoid taxation. 3. Retired from Capitola to Florida to have more money from pensions (avoiding taxation) 4. My dentist’s in laws to Nevada to avoid taxation. 5. Parents from Santa Cruz of a guy dating my neighbor, Washington State, to avoid taxation. 5. Guy who goes to gym in Florida from Orange County, still working. 6. My doctor in Scotts Valley who wants to raise his kids in a different political climate and to have a higher living standard (more after tax income, bigger house) 7. Guy in doctor’s waiting room who went to Nevada to retire and avoid taxation.

That'd be interesting. I am not leaving, thats for sure. I could see us buying a rental investment out of state though.

Re: who leaves California

When I retire and flee the Bay Area, I'll be trying to flee crowded venues (stores, streets, parks, etc), crowded living conditions, taxation, expensive housing, expensive everything else, and bad governance. Moving to some other place in California that has nice weather is still going to have most of those problems. I could move inland in California, but that doesn't really help much; if I'm going to go through all that effort moving I might as well leave behind all of California's problems.

I keep thinking that a "cheap" $1MM house on Marco Island (Florida) for the winter months and then travel during the unbearable summer months would do the trick.
66   clambo   2020 Dec 21, 11:22am

Re Florida unbearable summer months:
If you have a boat, or go to the beach, it’s not bad except that it’s very rainy by late summer, at least on the S. Florida Atlantic side (Gulf Stream)
I was scuba diving and noticed that out at sea it’s very comfortable, not as hot as the Sea of Cortez in the summer for example.
The nice thing is summer in Florida is very uncrowded.

Ahem, bro. Not all of us like it. The high prices make life miserable for the locals. And lock-in the super high property taxes, which are guaranteed to go up 2% per year.

The "wealth effect" of the increase in equity is sunk capital unless you sell to upgrade or to relocate to a less expensive place. Selling to upgrade means even higher taxes.

All the money those hipsters sunk capitaled to make super high interest payments for a mortgage, and on the property taxes, is not available to build real and liquid wealth on anything else, including bitcoin.

Its no different here in CA. Remember all those Asians pouring in and driving prices up between 2013-2017? I know plenty of first time home buyers in CA that are desperate to buy but cant find anything affordable in their area. Nothin new here.
Try buying a house anywhere else in the western world......its expensive in good locations. Try buying a house in Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Paris, London, Zurich, Brussels.....good luck and dont forget to bring a few millions of euros.
