https://wgntv.com/news/how-the-deadly-1995-chicago-heat-wave-compares-to-the-covid-19-pandemic/

Covid deaths are at 528 STATEWIDE here in IL. Most deaths during the '95 heat wave occurred in Chicago and not elsewhere (739 total if you don't want to read the article). McCormick place was not set up as an auxiliary hospital. The economy was not shut down. And the same people are being effected.

We will eclipse the heat wave death wise (not by much), but this is just more evidence that this is just pure hyperbolized bull shit by the media. People need to take the blinders off or at least admit they're fucking pieces of shit trying to politicize a god damn airborne virus and freaking people out. You people are sick fucks. You should be lynched.

The US has fewer deaths than 9/11! (whoops)
The US has fewer deaths than Gulf War 2! (whoops)
The US has fewer deaths than 0.003% of the population! (whoops)
The US has fewer deaths than 0.006% of the population! (whoops, we've reached it today)

Well at least
The US has fewer deaths than automobile fatalities!
The US has fewer deaths than the Vietnam War!

If this country can't properly medicate its populace, as every sensible nation is doing (apart from UK and a few others), we'll hit those numbers.

The Chicago shootings will be classified as Corona deaths, if they test positive for the anti-bodies. --- Don't worry, they'll get that death rate up

Why do you care? What skin do you have in the game? Old? Have other older loved ones that have already lived a life? I don't get it? Old people die, it's kind of a thing I hear....🤷‍♀️

Flu numbers will now be down this year and this virus will make the numbers just look like a bad flu season. But hey, 20M (soon to be 30 maybe 40M) productive Americans should just sit on their ass and get stimulus checks for it. Don't even care if I'm wrong at this point frankly and there are 1M deaths in the US. This isn't sustainable much longer and I think the people supporting shut downs are the least prepared for it. Enjoy.

I've seen many good workers furloughed, the whole hospitality business is threatened, this is a free country and you should be able to open and close your business as you see fit.

It's frankly sad. And to see the people that are scared and pussies. Sorry for the harshness, but if you're scared or a pussy, just stay home. It's not that complicated. It's like fucking peanut allergies. People that are worried about this virus and squashing the rest of us, are the peanut allergy people going to a fucking peanut factory.

But hey, let's shut down all the peanut factories for 0.03% of the population that has those allergies, that then decide to take a tour of a peanut factory.

Sometimes it feels like the deep state (and yes, there is one) is just playing with its power to suppress various freedoms through different kinds of panics.

Terrorism? Yes, that worked quite well in getting people to give up freedoms:

the permission given to law enforcement to search a home or business without the owner's or the occupant's consent or knowledge; the expanded use of National Security Letters, which allows the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to search telephone, e-mail, and financial records without a court order; and the expanded access of law enforcement agencies to business records, including library and financial records.

How about disease? Wow, yes, people will simply abandon all their rights if you tell them they have a 3% chance of dying if they don't obey you! So what if it really turns out to be 0.3%? It was an excellent exercise in global control and stifling of opposition. All those French protestors (the gilets jaunes) are finally off the streets!

That reminds me of the time when I explained to the preschool that Nutella contains hazelnuts (not peanuts) which are not allergens and they still didn't want me to make Nutella sandwiches for the kid anymore so I told them I'll send him from now on with a bottle of water only and they can deal with his mood when he gets hangry. "We're a nut free school" - fuck this shit.

The Left: It was okay to ruin the economy for months though it turned out to be just a bad flu season! We had to take that risk!
Also the Left: It's not okay to try HCQ on patients suffering from severe cases of Wuhanvirus! We can't take the risk!

National Security Letters, which allows the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to search telephone, e-mail, and financial records without a court order

And btw, those "National Security Letters" may not even be spoken about, which is a direct and flagrant violation of the First Amendment.

Seriously, you can go to jail if you even speak about getting one, and no judge has to review or sign it, also directly and flagrantly violating the Fourth Amendment:

A national security letter (NSL) is an administrative subpoena issued by the United States government to gather information for national security purposes. NSLs do not require prior approval from a judge. ...

NSLs typically contain a nondisclosure requirement forbidding the recipient of an NSL from disclosing that the FBI had requested the information.[2] The nondisclosure provision must be authorized by the Director of the FBI, and only after he or she certifies "that otherwise there may result a danger to the national security of the United States

Oh great, as if we can ever trust the FBI again after the provable corruption of FBI agent Strzok and FBI lawyer Page in trying to undermine US democracy.

If law enforcement won't obey they Constitution, there is no law anymore and it's time to take up arms once again to defend ourselves from King George. This is exactly what the Declaration of Independence was all about: our fundamental rights.

Freedom of Assembly is also under threat at the moment, obviously.

I got to visit the Soviet Union in 1985, while studying German in Austria for the year.

Had an interesting debate with a cute young Russian woman in the Komsomol named Vera Abrosimova. Got a picture of her somewhere... I said that the Russians din't have freedom of speech, and she replied that they did, as long as what they said didn't "threaten national security".

And who decides what speech "threatens national security"? It was the Communist Party in the USSR.

In America, it's the FBI.

We were told 2 million would die if we don't take action, and then the darned governors just had to go and take action! How could they? Those bastards, didn't even give us one stinking million deaths.

30 million unemployed is the consolation prize. And don’t forget the models were way off. Look at Sweden, no shutdown = no mass deaths.

Yup. It's funny too, here in IL the places the virus is most effective... nursing homes. It shreds them to pieces. Had one in Joliet here in IL knock out 23 people I think in just one location.

This virus likes density. It's pretty clear at this point. Especially in shared living arrangements (nursing home, condo, HOSPITAL etc). New Yorkers are ass goblins, but the one's that got the heck out were pretty smart. I couldn't imagine being holed up in even the nicest of apartments or condos that I could afford in NYC. It would be miserable. The ability to lock you down is significantly easier as well. And any social unrest is going to be magnified 10 fold when it happens.

But yeah, not sure why some keep citing models that aren't remotely close to being correct WITH social distancing. Those citing ones without social distancing are eating their words at this point with your example of Sweden. Everyone in Sweden should be dead at this point....

Illinois total deaths 948 surpassed California yesterday or day before.

Correct. It's a whopper of a number for 12,670,000 residents... Gonna sound harsh, but wake me up when we hit 10K in IL.
21   georgeliberte   2020 Apr 16, 8:16am

Of course those 739 total deaths during the '95 heat wave would be attributed o COVID-19 if they happened now.
22   zzyzzx   2020 Apr 16, 8:36am

Homicides still outpacing the Wuhan flu in Baltimore city over the same time period.
