Ok, even if this lawyerly approach was considered valid, they received no opposition research and thus were under no obligation to declare it as a campaign contribution. Strike one!

Not a crime, unless under oath like Papa Clinton. And a strong case could be shown that this wasn't even a lie! Getting gamed by a Russian lawyer doesn't count as aid for the campaign.
